HBO’s is clearly spreading out it’s schedule because of the corona virus.

Not sure how much that helps regarding its awards chances, but Little Fires Everywhere seems to be an hit

“Airing in those extraordinary circumstances, Hulu’s high profile new limited series Little Fires Everywhere has amassed solid viewership.

Per Hulu, with four episodes released to date, Little Fires Everywhere generated more hours of viewing over the past two weeks than any other drama on Hulu (including library titles with hundreds of episodes), and has been watched by more subscribers than any other program on Hulu overall during that period.

Interest has been building week to week, and the most recent Episode 4, which dropped last week, was viewed by more subscribers and generated more hours of viewing on its first day than the premiere Episode 1 did on Day 1.”

It just assures the thing that we already know, that both actresses will get in.

But I’m stil expecting it to be The Act-redux, getting two Actress at the Emmys, Globes and SAG.

Having seen 4 of the big contenders in this race, it’s between HOLLYWOOD and WATCHMEN, no question. Hollywood is flashier and has bigger stars, and will gobble up probably four acting nominations — Jim Parsons, Joe Mantello, Holland Taylor and Jeremy Pope are locks, with David Corenswet and Patti Lupone also likely getting in. Hollywood will also grab a huge supporting amount of below the line creative arts Emmys…costumes, makeup, title sequence, production design, etc.  Watchman seems like 3 to 4 acting nominations, strong in some technical races. But won’t hit that tally of Hollywood. Ruffalo however is a lock to win Best Actor.

Probably just the 5 limited series front-runners, which atm for me are Watchmen, Mrs. America, Unbelievable, Hollywood and The Eddy. But I could easily see I Know This Much Is True, The Third Day and/or Little Fires Everywhere take The Eddy’s slot. I don’t see how the others miss.

Your winners for Music Composition (Limited/Movie/Special). Don’t know why Limited needs to be separate from Drama/Comedy though – if they’re good enough, they will be nominated alongside the established programs (as I’m sure Watchmen this year and Chernobyl/WTSU last year would have been).

    For Your Consideration:

Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)

Morgan Spector and Zoe Kazan have been electric so far in “The Plot Against America.” Both are in my Emmy predictions now.

I wish I could find room for Kazan but that category seems pretty set with Blanchett, Wever, Dever, King, Witherspoon and Washington. Spector could possibly happen considering how weak lead actor is, but it still feels like an uphill battle. David Simon shows haven’t done well with the Emmy’s in terms of acting nominations, but this feels like his most timely and accessible show. I hope it overperforms.

BEST ACTRESS, in order: 1) KING 2) BLANCHETT 3) LUPONE 4) DEVER 5) WASHINGTON. Witherspoon is not getting in here, for the same performance she’s given for the past three years.

I think this is the Simon series that changes his fortunes. It’s the most accessible and Emmy-friendly work he’s done to date, so I’m leaving both in and predicting the series across the board.
