    E comes before K.

Oh my god I totally had in my head when I wrote that that she was gonna be under Z. Hilarious.

Aren’t we overemphasizing the impact of alphabet ranking a little bit? Mostly in categories that will not have overwhelming amount of submissions to begin with, like Lead categories. I’d like to believe voters could skim through 10 pages at the very least.

I can’t speak for everyone but I personally have only been using it to separate out contenders that I otherwise consider to be neck and neck.

Also, I don’t think it’s a question of voters not going through the entire ballot but more that at the start of it they’ll be more inclined to tick off someone that they just thought was good whereas by the end they might be more controlled with such contenders as they’ll be aware of the number of names they’ve already ticked off. As much as it’s an unlimited ballot, I doubt most voters want to go beyond a certain number and deem their ballot worthless.

WGA and SAG noms show the industry took notice of the show when they didn’t need to. Globe nom for series when it could have just been for Russell Crowe if the aim was just to name check stars. The main reason people are ruling out is because of the critical reception but then even Critics Choice nominated it in series.

More importantly though, it’s Showtime’s big push and the competition is dead so it seems foolish not to consider it when it is already a proven overachiever. I suppose I see it as the kind of Genius of this year.

It has no shot, but I would love for the Kimmy Schmidt special to win for TV movie.
It was my favorite TV movie of the few that I’ve seen (eligible for emmys, if Half of It or Tigertail were submitted I would vote for those), the limited/movie categories never nominate comedies let alone win, and it would give the show at least one emmy after 4 really good seasons.

I guess we can check off Quiz from contenders. It literally has zero buzz.

I guess we can check off Quiz from contenders. It literally has zero buzz.

I noticed it had 0 reviews from the audience on Rotten Tomatoes yet it was in the top 5 of most popular programmes on the site. How strange.

FYC Emmys : Jodie Comer ("Killing Eve"), Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials"), Russell Tovery ("Years and Years"), Helena Bonham Carter ("The Crown") & The Crown, His Dark Materials, Years and Years, Succession and The Affair in all categories. The Politician : Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bette Midler and Judith Light.

FYC Goldderby Awards : MAURA TIERNEY AND DOMINIC WEST FOR THE FINAL SEASON OF THE AFFAIR

It was a huge hit in Britain, but the AMC ratings for Quiz are abysmal.  I Know This Much is True ticked up.

I’ve kept Macfadyen and Sheen this long to see whether Quiz made waves in the US (which I doubted), but I definitely think the current climate isn’t helping in that regard. My replacements are probably going to be Evans and Abdul-Mateen/Plemons.

John Turturro is not ahead of John Slattery, Tim Blake Nelson or Jim Parsons (even though he should be).

I also love Winona Ryder but I think she can only get in if there is a line up of 8 that Mrs. America doesn’t dominate (which I see as getting 4 or more nominees).

I kind of have to think you are going King/Watchmen or Blanchett/Mrs.America. I’d be pretty shocked if those winners didn’t come in matching pairs.

I don’t know, I’m predicting Watchmen to win Series but Blanchett to win actress. To me it makes sense as they both seem to be the most critically acclaimed in their respective categories. Not to mention, we saw last year a similar situation where Chernobyl swept all but the acting categories while the most acclaimed performances won.

I expect supporting actor lineup to be entirely from Mrs. America/Watchmen/Hollywood/Unorthodox, any other than these would surprise me.

After completely ruling it out earlier in the year, I think Defending Jacob now has a chance of getting in series. I also think Dockery is potentially a spoiler in actress. It was a hit, it’s Apple’s big push in this category and appeals to a diverse audience.
