After that surprise BAFTA nomination, Peabody win and today’s TCA overperformance, it’s time to accept Unbelievable isn’t as weak and without passion as it’s made out to be. It’s easily getting its three leads nominated + directing and writing.

    Yes. Always and forever #TeamUnbelievable.

And I think it can win Miniseries at TCA (considering voters may consider Watchmen is already winning Program). It happened before with Breaking Bad and Good Wife in 2014.

Unlikely. Watchmen is probably taking all the categories it’s in since TCA doesn’t care for wealth spreading (see WTSU getting paid dust while Fleabag took comedy, individual, program, and Chernobyl taking Miniseries last year, The Americans sweep a couple years ago, etc.). Though Unbelievable did tie with it (thanks to Kaitlyn) so I could be wrong.

The Dever nomination is definitely telling as is the love for Unbelievable as a whole.

I’m going to take out Washington. Despite the current climate in the U.S., there are just more detractors for her performance than Witherspoon’s. And now that I’m starting to think Unbelievable is #2 in the series race, it wouldn’t make sense for Dever to not get checked off along with Wever. It’s not like Dever is a no name anymore either.

I agree minus directing. The fact it still got snubbed at DGA and has submitted three directors is making me a bit cautious.

I wonder if it might pop up in Supporting Actor (going to take Parsons out).

The BAFTA nom and Peabody wins weren’t surprises IMO.

I had Eric Lange in for a week, then rewatched the premiere for an article, and felt like throwing my remote at his character. So I took him back out. He’s great regardless, but that role is just too much (at the beginning) right now.

I looked back at when Limited Series performances have been nominated at TCA and how many have missed or been nominated and no Limited/Movie performance has ever missed! So looks like Dever, Wever and Ruffalo are joining Blanchett and King as locks.

I’ve slotted him back in (for now until I do my final revision) because I have a feeling the categories could literally just be Watchmen, Mrs. America and Unbelievable (which makes Supporting Actress a nightmare).

I have taken Washington out in favour of Dever (which I was hesitant about because of how I had 33/1 odds on her). I hope we somehow end up with 6 nominees due to a tie between Witherspoon and Washington (which is possible) or she gets her dues at the winter awards. I think Janney’s chances in Supporting Actress are dead and I actually feel quite confident in predicting a line up of Aduba, Byrne, Colette, Paulson, Smart and Ullman with Martindale and Chau as potential spoilers.

I wonder if The Plot Against America gets into Writing?

Unorthodox is over. It’s impossible for me to decide between Reese or Kerry.

I’ve gone with Reese. She has the advantage of having three projects in the same year and more universal acclaim on her side.

To think that we thought at the beginning of this race that because of how the top 3 series last year were all Spring/May series that we’d have a similar situation this year + Watchmen but then the pandemic postponed a whole bunch of series, Unbelievable turned out to be quite strong and some series flopped so it literally is Mrs. America, Unbelievable and Watchmen.

Blanchett, King, Witherspoon, Washington, Wever, Dever.

That’s an impossible choice: I literally change my prediction every day.

Unbelievable didn’t turn out to be quite strong. It’s always been strong. No one wanted to see it though.

Really disappointed at Unorthodox’s shut out at TCA. I think Haas is just as deserving as most of the locks in this category, but I am going with Dever and Witherspoon to round out my 5 (assuming Blanchett, King, and Wever are locks). I think Unbelievable will have a strong showing and while I originally thought Dever could miss, her TCA nomination over some other people show she, and the show, clearly have support. And personally I don’t think there is a comparison between Witherspoon and Washington in LFE so I am banking on Witherspoon. Maybe taking the TCA noms more seriously than I should, but who knows.

I’m thinking that Lead Actor is too close to call. At first I thought a line up of Mescal, Irons, Jackman and Crowe at least was locked but now I am actually thinking that only Ruffalo is locked. I think the last four slots are between Mescal, Irons, Jackman, Crowe and Evans and there are equal arguments for and against each of them missing.

People keep talking about how hard it is to switch between Dever, Washington and Witherspoon in a line up of Blanchett, King and Wever but Lead Actor is just as bad.

Damn you TV Academy for only giving us 5 nominees this year! I mean otherwise it was an obvious top 6 for both categories.

Decided to double down on Unbelievable strength and put Dever back in and take out both LFE ladies.

I have King (winner), Blanchett, Wever, Dever, Haas.

Predicting Haas, while Unorthodox couldn’t even make TCA doesn’t make sense imo. Critics should be first people pushing it.
