If there was a Guest Actress category for Limited Series this year then it probably would have had IMO : – Annaleigh Ashford, Unbelievable – Bria Henderson, Mrs. America – Elizabeth Marvel, Unbelievable – Niecy Nash, Mrs. America – Jeanne Tripplehorn, Mrs. America

    Hong Chau…

    AnnaSophia Robb

    Hong Chau…

    She would’ve won.

With the talk of guest categories for limited players, I agree it’s a good idea and they should just be allowed to go into drama/comedy guests.

I wish there was a Guest category for Limited series as well. Tripplehorn and Niecy would definetly get nominated. James Marsden and Adam Brody wouldve benefited from this category as well. Another Actress that comes to mind is AnnaSophia Robb. Not only would she get nominated but I think she wouldve won. She was so good.

I’m glad someone else noticed Tripplehorn and Nash, I thought I was alone! Forgive my ignorance, but was Robb in Mrs America? I have nostalgia for Terabithia…

I’m glad to see Lapotaire in your signature! I hope she wins the category. I watched the latest season of The Crown when it was released so quite a while back, and she was the only performance I still remember clearly. Perhaps HBC too. But Lapotaire for me was the standout of the whole thing!

    FYC:

Andrea Riseborough, Karim Saleh, Possessor/Luxor (Best Actress, Best Actor)
Sophia Loren, Abril Zamora, The Life Ahead (Best Actress, Supporting Actress)
Emily Blunt, Jamie Dornan, Christopher Walken, Dearbhla Molloy, Wild Mountain Thyme (Best Actress, Actor, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress)

She was in Little Fires Everywhere playing the younger version of Witherspoon’s character. A really really fantastic performance!

Talk of guest categories for the limited race comes up every year and I have to say I just don’t think it’s necessary. Yes sometimes people are excellent in one episode of a 9 part series but not every excellent performance needs to be recognized, like what about when someone is in 2 episodes of a 5 part series? That’s a supporting performance. Creating too many categories kinda makes the awards lose some impact. What we really need is a SAG award for limited ensemble

No, she was in Little Fires Everywhere. She appeared in a flashback episode and she portrayed a young version of Reese Witherspoon character.

I love Jane since I watched her in The Crown. She was my MVP of the season as well. I don’t remember a TV performance sticking with me for this long after I watched it and she was only in two episodes. She was THAT good. I really hope she wins, I really do. If she indeed gets nominated, I also think she can be win competitive. And The Crown is loved by actors so she can definitely pull it off. Lets see how the guest race turns out. I’m praying really hard for her…everyday!!! 🙂

I have read an article and apparently people in charge of SAG awards want it too but the network doesn’t want the live airing to extend more.

Yeah, actors are definetly the people that need more categories at the award shows.

I have seen three eps. of “Normal People,” and I am concerned. It’s a wonderful and beautifully-produced show, but it strikes me as too “slight” to be recognized by the TV academy in a big way. I have Paul Mescal all the way up in third, but I am concerned. It’s a terrific performance – very natural – but it might be too subtle for Emmy voters. Ugh. I don’t want to take him out though because who the hell do I put in? Do I have to reconsider Aaron Paul and Hugh Jackman?

This could easily get a directing nom though.

I would say don’t take the show out of your predictions until you see the rest of it. You still haven’t seen Abrahamson’s directing submission or Edgar-Jones or Mescal’s stand out episodes yet (Mescal’s is episode 10 which is the one that he’s getting the buzz for).

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", AMANDA SEYFRIED FOR "MANK", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

Took out Hollywood from my predictions yesterday for…Defending Jacob. I already predict Evans so why not the show. It’s actually pretty enjoyable and if they go for LFE, why not this? Normal People is one of my fav shows in the category but I really don’t think it’s happening in Series.

I am not concerned about the quality of their performances, but about the fact that academy voters might not want to, this year, reward a show that centers on two (white) people falling in love.

As I said before. Wait till you finish the whole programme before deciding whether or not to take the programme out of your predictions. IMO it becomes more nuanced and multi dimensional in terms of the story (i.e. it’s not only about two (white) people falling in love).

And I’m saying this as someone who thought the first three episodes of Normal People were appaling.

I’ve never had the show itself in. It’s only been Mescal. Our top 3 for limited series are locked, and after that, I have LFE and Defending Jacob. The former has turned out to be bigger than I ever thought it would be – plus, it has the relevant subtext – while the latter has been gaining momentum thanks to Apple’s campaign and people generally liking the show.
