On the Emmys gold carpet, Paul Reiser said he and Helen Hunt are still on board with the idea of a reboot. It’s now the studio’s call as to whether or not it happens. https://variety.com/2018/tv/news/paul-reiser-mad-about-you-reboot-1202946917/September 19, 2018 at 5:31 pm #1202637392
If it’s a reboot, then wouldn’t they just be starting all over? That’s just a pet peeve of mine. If they would be carrying on about 20-something years after the end of the series, then it’s a revival.

I guess it depends on how much they change. Roseanne could probably be considered both a revival and a reboot, since it acted like the entire 9th season never even happened.September 19, 2018 at 6:07 pm #1202637456
Revivals can do a thing called retcon.September 19, 2018 at 7:26 pm #1202637492

In a recent interview with Deadline, Helen Hunt said she’s confident that a revival will happen, but she’s “resigned from handicapping when”.

I’m glad to hear that the revival isn’t off the table (I may be alone in that opinion), though it doesn’t sound promising that it will ever materialize.

The Mad About You revival has now been picked up by Charter Communications’ premium content platform, Spectrum Originals. It will air as a limited series slated for a debut later this year. Hunt will direct the first episode of the revival, with Danny Jacobson, who co-created the original series with Reiser, serving as an executive consultant.

I did not care for the show when it was on and I will not tune in now. The guest stars were the only saving grace of the showMarch 7, 2019 at 8:29 am #1202807655
