I echo pretty much everything here. Fuuu-

I need the next episode. Need it.

Also great moment of random community comedy at the funeral with the widower annoucning he’d had an affair with Jean Smart. Only twice, maybe three times!

    FYC:
Ego Nwodim ("SNL"), Nico Santos ("Superstore"), Lolly Adefope ("Shrill"), MJ Rodriguez ("Pose"), Kate Winslet, Julianne Nicholson ("Mare of Easttown"), Punam Patel ("Special")

I know everyone talking about the last ten minutes but the funeral and scene in car after were my favorite part. I laughed harder than some actual comedy series.

I guess I’m watching a different show than all of you because I really don’t see where all of this confidence in Kate is coming from. The performance is fine but really nothing special.

Same honestly. I’ve been bored throughout this show except for the last 10 minutes of this episode and it’s honestly just a mix of a bunch of other mystery shows and films (I mean the blatant Silence knock-off…). Pretty basic for the genre. And this isn’t even in Kate’s top 5 best performances but I guess I’m in the minority on that one.

Facial nuance beats hammy drama any day.

For a show that’s obviously heavily influenced by British crime dramas, I’m surprised no one here has brought up the comparison with Happy Valley for this episode yet. This ending took a page straight out of that show’s book. It’s honestly striking how similar it was. I’d say Happy Valley definitely did it better overall, but that doesn’t take away from how amazing this scene turned out. Incredible ending. Hope it manages to keep this momentum going for the last couple of episodes.

P.S. Kate Winslet better not lose the Emmy to Anya. That’d just be embarrassing.

I’m pushing hard for an Evan Peters nomination just for how hot he is in this show.

Emmys FYC: Maya Erskine in PEN15, Paapa Essiedu in I May Destroy You, Keeley Hawes in It's a Sin, Carl Lumbly in TFATWS, Cristin Milioti in Made for Love, Elizabeth Olsen in WandaVision, Billie Piper in I Hate Suzie, Hailee Steinfeld in Dickinson, William Zabka in Cobra Kai

Yeah Mare of Easttown is quite similar to Happy Valley. From being a town set drama to having a strong central performance from a 40+ thespian playing a grandma to the child of a sinister father.

If you like the show I’d recommend Happy Valley haha! Both are excellent.

FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")

Also, I would absolutely nominate Peters and Smart. Neither gets too much showy material but their attention to detail in the creation of their characters is just a joy to watch.

BTW, how funny was that scene at the funeral and the ensuing car ride home? 😂😂 When this show is funny, it’s really funny.

The fact that I have to remind myself I am watching the same person in both roles when I’m watching Mare of Easttown and Hacks is enough for me to say Jean Smart is excellent in this.

When I saw Peters’ character that happy and had achieved that I knew what would ensue, why do you always have to be a bad guy to win?!
Anyway, dropping WandaVision from the series lineup.
