Oh shit I didn’t even realize this came out. I wanted to have the first season finished before it came back but I’ve only watched like 2 episodes.

Fantastic season – even better and more creative than the first. I love that this format allows Ansari to take storytelling risks that wouldn’t work otherwise in a traditional format. “The Thief” is probably the highlight of the season, but “Religion”, “First Date”, “Thanksgiving”, and “New York, I Love You” are each fantastic.

    Predicted Nominations:

    Comedy Series
    Comedy Actor – Aziz Ansari
Comedy Guest Actor – Bobby Cannavale
Comedy Guest Actress – Angela Bassett
    Comedy Directing – “The Thief”
    Comedy Writing – “Religion”
Comedy Writing – “Thanksgiving” (if they submit two)

Finished the binge, much superior than season 1 (something I didn’t think was possible). I don’t see how this drops out of Comedy series, writing or acting. In fact, I see it following Louie’s trajectory and picking up more nominations.

Speaking of extra nominations, Basset is a lock for a nomination in Guest Actress, she was so good. Same with Emmy veteran Bobby canavale in Guest Actor.

    Season Grade – A-

    Comedy Series –
    Tape A – The Thief & Religion
Tape B – New York, I Love You & Thanksgiving
Tape C – Amarsi Un Po & Buona Notte

    Comedy Actor –
Azis Ansari – The Dinner Party/Amarsi Un Po

    Comedy Guest Actor –
    Bobby Cannavale

    Comedy Guest Actress-
    Angela Basset

It’s really annoying how much I fucking love this show. It’s so good. Just finished it, and I’d honestly like it if so many of them got in. I wish there were nominations for Aziz Ansari, Eric Wareheim, Lena Waithe, Shoukath Ansari, Alessandra Mastronardi, Bobby Cannavale, and Angela Bassett. They’re all so deserving, I wish they could all make it in.

I was also really surprised by how good H. Jon Benjamin was in his little part. And obviously Nicolo Ambrosio was hilarious.

Finished the binge and I am very impressed. I was a big fan of season one and the way the show leaned into its more “artistic” and unconventional sensibilities in season two worked even better, IMO. “The Thief” is such a phenomenal season opener – I hope that it will grab voters and remind them why they liked this show enough last year to put it into series.

I am very curious what their writing and directing submissions will be. I think “Religion,” the most analogous episode to “Parents” isn’t really the best option. The Thief, New York I Love You, Thanksgiving, and Amarsi Un Po were the season highlights. I think that the director’s branch may appreciate all of the homages to classic italian film.

Claire Danes’ lack of Emmy nom last year makes me wary of predicting anyone from this show in that category but Bassett’s showcase is even better than hers. I hope voters get all the way to episode 8 before they start voting. Bobby Cannavalle is also very good and fits the mold of a more typical guest actor nominee in that he is essentially a supporting actor who appears in the correct amount of episodes. Plus they love him.
