Modern Family Season 11 (Final Season) starts tonight on ABC.September 25, 2019 at 10:34 am #1203101846
I hope they get it together and give this once-great show the final season it deserves. The main issue they have struggled with the past few seasons is how to effectively integrate the kids as they have grown to adulthood. As young adults, it seems logical they would have their own stories not necessarily tied to the parents and that made the canvas too big, so we got a lot of scattered plots that didn’t have enough time to develop. So here’s hoping they can keep things more focused for this final run of episodes. And I don’t think we really need a victory lap for all of the recurring guest stars through the years cluttering things up either. Let’s keep it to the core cast.September 25, 2019 at 11:43 am #1203102038
I do too. I also hope they finish/complete stories that are open. For instance, does Phil still own the majic shop. It was never brought up last season. Is Gloria still in Phil’s real estate class?
I also hope they have Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine’s Day episodes (or at least two of the holidays). I tend to like those episodes more.September 25, 2019 at 12:02 pm #1203102125

This. I don’t really wanna see anyone other than Fred Willard, Nathan Lane, Elizabeth Banks, Stephanie Beatriz, and possibly Jane Krakowski.
I also hope they have Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine’s Day episodes (or at least two of the holidays).
Also, this. I especially want them to go all out on Halloween episode and make it as crazy as possible.September 26, 2019 at 1:31 pm #1203105646
“New kids on the block ” wasn’t a bad premiere. I actually enjoyed the Jay/Gloria/Manny/Sherry story the best. I enjoyed how they all played off each other. I also enjoyed the Mitch/Cam story. I figured Mitch took the figurine, but enjoyed the kids being part of an acting class. The Dunphy’s were my least favorite.September 27, 2019 at 5:07 am #1203107383
Very disappointed in the premiere. The only time I laughed was when Cam was talking about being fingered, but then they beat that to death.
Alex in Antarctica was a total wtf.
The Delgado dog commercial thing was nonsense, and poorly acted to boot.
As for the Dunphys, if I wanted to hear people shout over crying babies, I would go to my cousin’s house.
If next week’s isn’t better, I will probably check out until the actual finale.October 3, 2019 at 5:17 am #1203118774
“Snapped” was better then the premiere episode, but still not great. Mitchell singing to the refrigerator was funny and I enjoyed the Phil/Gloria scenes (Phil is still teaching his real estate class and Gloria is still in it. Glad they didn’t completely drop this story). Dylan with the sunburn was funny, too. Claire and the kids story was just bad.October 4, 2019 at 7:12 am #1203120940
Agree this was a step up from last week. The refrigerator story was really silly, but Ferguson and Stonestreet pulled it off somehow. They underplayed parts of it (refreshing from these two, who have a tendency to be broad as a barn) and it worked as a result. They have made poor Claire into a harpy, though her bumper bit about how she gets one day because her kids have always been ashamed of her was a nice ending capper. Enjoyed the Phil and Gloria stuff fine, but my favorite bit was the recall of Luke’s hostility towards Lily, which I’ve always found hilarious for some reason.October 4, 2019 at 6:02 pm #1203121818
I enjoyed the premiere with the exception of the Alex in Antartica.October 5, 2019 at 1:05 pm #1203122866
I also enjoyed the flashback of Luke being a kid and Gloria talking to someone one the phone with an accent.October 10, 2019 at 1:12 pm #1203131085
“Perfect Pairs” was another average episode. I enjoyed the Mitch/Cam/Lily story the best with their neighbors. I also loved seeing Stephanie Beatriz playing Gloria’s sister. The Dunphy’s and the babies was a fail. That part wasn’t funny at all.October 10, 2019 at 1:48 pm #1203131122
I’m ready for this to endOctober 10, 2019 at 7:31 pm #1203131452
3rd episode was horrible, easily the worst of this season so far. They managed to ruin all storylines with great potentials by cramming all in one episode. We needed more of Stephanie Beatriz and how many times do we have to see the same storyline for Mitch/Cam/Lily, practically every season has an episode where they feel inferior to another gay couple or they feel bad about Lily’s lack of achievements.
I’m especially mad about that storyline because they could’ve introduced the new neighbors this episode and focus on the other two storylines and have this neighbor storyline last for at least the first half of the season, by occasionally bringing them back. And making them actually good friends with Mitch and Cam for a change.
I’m just too disappointed and I needed to vent, sorry.October 17, 2019 at 4:18 am #1203140754
“Pool Party” is the best episode so far this season. I enjoyed all the stories. It’s nice to see Gloria having a job and more of a purpose. It was also nice to see Lily involved more.
