As far as I’m aware no but only two other newcomers this century have been nominated (Joey King in 2019 and Hannah Taylor-Gordon in 2001).

Exactly. So I don’t see why some people here are pushing Shira Haas as a strong spoiler when she literally has 4 veterans to overcome.

Well the thing is her show is a breakout hit and her performance is acclaimed. Sure she is one of three breakthrough performers to get nominated here but we’ve seen recently how categories like Drama Actress and Limited/Movie Actor have awarded breakthrough  performers continually since we moved away from the ranking system (i.e. Riz Ahmed, Jodie Comer, Tatiana Maslany, Claire Foy, Jharrel Jerome).

I also wouldn’t hold it against Haas that she’s only the third breakthrough performer in a century to get nominated here when there have hardly been shows with female breakthrough leads that have gotten buzz under the current voting system (maybe apart from Normal People).

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", AMANDA SEYFRIED FOR "MANK", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

The reason why I don’t consider Shira Haas winning is because there is Regina King (Watchmen) and we know how she’s such a huge force. Her performance has been critically acclaimed. Everyone loves Regina King. Even though it’s not really a factor, but there is the Oscar buzz on One Night in Miami. King is getting the best goodwill right now in her career and I think she will win. I think it is inevitable.

I’m so close to switching from Parsons to Yahya after seeing Watchmen overcome vote splitting last night but I’m wary of the fact that it is a different branch and Parsons is clearly liked by actors.

    For Your Consideration:

Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)

There isn’t a spoiler here. King is in the biggest show. She’s won Emmys when she wasn’t expected to win them in the past. She won the TCA against strong competition from actors in Drama series. And she has career momentum with just directing a hit festival breakout. Hell, she even finally won the Gold Derby award for a TV performance (and by a comfortable margin at that). Also, she’s by far the most likely Watchmen acting winner and it’s winning at least one acting award. She’s a complete lock. People are trying to make something out of nothing in this race. It ended when Mrs. America underperformed.

Really have a feeling King isn’t going to win but not sure who the benefactor might be. Currently predicting:

    Actress: Blanchett

    Actor: Mescal

    Supporting actress: Collette

    Supporting actor: Adbul-Mateen

Would be hilarious if Regina King lost for her career best performance in the Series winner when she caused 2 upset wins for less deserving performances.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", AMANDA SEYFRIED FOR "MANK", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).
