How are people even considering Cate still? Mrs. America is obviously going home empty handed.

I think Tracey Ullman and Uzo Aduba both have real shots at winning. Don’t think Cate will win unfortunately, but I don’t see Mrs. America going home empty handed. Also, regarding directing, I think Lynn Shelton has a very real chance at winning. Though I didn’t like LFE overall, I thought the directing was very strong.

Also, Octavia Spencer had an extremely baity performance and played a real person. She’s a classic nod if the year weren’t strong.

And she also rose above trash material with an outstanding performance. It’s the exact teasing behind a Ruaffalo WIN, yes while his category is empty Spencer is also on a Netflix show which means a automatic higher viewership.

I hate seeing Washington’s performance being trashed as a result of Witherspoon’s snub. It’s inevitable though when only one makes it in, people take it out on the other. Kerry Washington DESERVED that nomination, she was fantastic on the show and came at the role with her all. But never let it be said that Reese Witherspoon deserved her snub. It’s an utter disgrace and slap in the face to her. Both should have been in the race.

To go from having 3 buzzed shows in heavy contention; 1 being thought of as a lock for an acting nod (LFE) and the other two being seen as relative locks for producing nods, with a strong chance of her getting nominated for one as an actor. She could have made TV history as someone with 3 producing nods in year (on top of multiple acting nods and the title of being the first actor ever to lead 3 shows in a single Emmy cycle). And they paid her dust.

It’s insulting and patronising to Witherspoon for me to write this, I know. I’m under no impression she is upset by her snubs. She is going to continue to thrive in her career and sang praises to all of her cast mates who were rewarded. Their achievements only benefit her company. However, as a massive fan of her work and her career (and all of the other nominees in her caregories), I think it’s ridiculous she wasn’t acknowledged for her acting (even once) this year.

Fingers crossed Aniston and Washington take the trophies. If not Reese, then her brilliant costars.

I think Reese might have suffered from overexposure and the fact most people think her characters were similar (I disagree with that but it is a popular opinion).

I never understood how people thought these three characters were similar in any way or form :

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

This is why I predicted her snub. I just couldn’t shake the feeling many were suffering from a Witherspoon fatigue.

Exactly! They aren’t similar at all. Friends of mine have said “Oh, that shows great but why would she typecast herself and basically play Madeline?” and I’m like CBVVBRGBHDEHVEBJHQDFBEW. Both are rich mothers with fiery tempers and I can only imagine Witherspoon played into that and wanted there to be an initial similarity. Elena is manipulative, deceitful, vindictive and calculating. Yet even when she’s telling her daughter she wishes she never had her, meeting up with her ex and flirting with the idea of infidelity, digging into Mia’s past and threatening to expose her biggest secret, trying to pay Bebe into not pursuing custody of Mei-Ling, forcing her way into Pearl and Mia’s lives for no other reason than the fact that they’re black etc etc…she’s warm and caring and… likeable.

In another actors hands, Elena could have been a cold bitch, which could have worked just the same for the story. But Witherspoon brought such subtlety and nuance to a character that also allowed her to be dynamic and vibrant at the same time. She was layered and multifaceted, but ultimately became the ‘villain’ of the two.

The voters obviously just wanted to take her down a peg. To nominate multiple costars from each of her shows but leave her out? Pathetic. And intentional. There’s no way she “just wasn’t the one they preferred”. They just chose to spite her.

For anyone who sees my posts, I’m sorry that all I do on here is rant and rave about Reese. I promise I’ll get over these snubs and be more productive. Maybe.

Well this is basically it. Even if us on this forum disagree the majority believes she was basically typecasting herself, which ultimately could have lead in her snub. Maybe if LFE was her only project this year she would be in, who knows.

How did she play herself in Little Fires Everywhere LMAO? Is she a selfish racist mum with post natal depression who doesn’t care about her own daughter and tries to get involved in other people’s family issues in real life?

Elena Richardson is a textbook problematic white woman which is pretty much the exact opposite of Reese Witherspoon lmaoo. Imagine her calling the police on a black woman for simply sleeping in her car nnnn

Just seen Unorthodox episode 2. I still stand by my argument that if voters see Unorthodox there is no way they don’t check Shira off for the win (like with Jharrel Jerome and Jodie Comer last year). I think this is a 3 way race between Blanchett, Haas and King (not in that order). Sorry Kerry I’m still rooting for you to win this but I’ve lost hope.

    https://youtu.be/g9fwe_NEerE Reese Witherspoon’s arrest video.

How on earth does this mean that she played herself when she played Elena Richardson LMAO??? Also do TV Academy members even care or know about this ridiculous celebrity obsession stuff? I mean it kind of seems like a waste of brain space.

Playing Shirley Chisholm just became a much huger deal than it might have seemed prior. Moving Uzo Aduba up to #1 from #2. I think she can overtake Smart now.

Do you understand now why I think Haas is winning the golden globe? Lol.

She was phenomenal. I still am being cautious about her winning the Globe even though I think she’s winning the Emmy. The show will have aired more than a year ago by the time of the Globes and may be forgotten when so many contenders are yet to air (BoysThe Undoing and The Third Day to name a few) and so many recent contenders have been gathering buzz (I May Destroy You for example). If she’s nominated she’s probably winning the Globe (although I think Blanchett is winning SAG like Rockwell did regardless) but considering these are the same people who snubbed Jharrel Jerome and awarded Tom Hiddleston over Courtney B. Vance and the same people who awarded Lady Gaga over Kirsten Dunst I am worried about her getting snubbed in the win or the nomination.
