Per The Hollywood Reporter and Donald Glover’s IG:

Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Donald Glover will star in a tv series adaption of the 2005 film Mr. & Mrs. Smith. (The original film starred Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt).

It is slated for a 2022 release on Amazon Prime.

That sucks for us who are trying to create new material. The visual industry needs to start making changes or else they will end up like the music industry. Dead and full of talentless IG stars.

Fleabag and Atlanta were the shows that made PWB and Donald into stars in the first place and those shows were original. And the biggest show of the year The Queen’s Gambit isn’t based on any blockbuster and audiences showed up for that. So I’m not sure I follow the logic of the article.

It’s strange because audiences all tend to roll their eyes and complain about about remakes/reboots/prequels. Yet it’s all we seem to be seeing. But I’d say that’s more on the movie side. That said, this actually sounds really cool!

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has exited Amazon’s ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ series. The project still starring Donald Glover will recast the role and remain on track for a 2022 release. According to THR, Phoebe Waller-Bridge had a different creative vision for the series than Donald Glover, who remains on board. (source)

Watch the recast come out really quick. I suspected something was going on here because we’d heard nothing.
