Another great episode. I won’t spend much time reiterating how great Blanchett is in this role because it’s getting a bit repetitive, but she really is phenomenal.
I’m glad Slattery finally got some good material to work with. I never took into account how inferior he might have felt given the publicity and interest surrounding his wife. He was amazing in the hotel scene when it all boiled up.
Graynor kind of blew me away here. She was delicious in the debate sequence, but I was really more impressed with her work in the quieter scenes with her husband. It was a very lived in, layered performance.April 29, 2020 at 1:33 pm #1203453916
The episode was good. Blanchett still delightful to watch, with more emotional scenes, but Byrne is giving my favorite performance in these five episodes. Ari Graynor deserves to be in the supporting actress conversation, but probably she don’t have the name to compete with the others girls. I still think the show is not going deep enough in some subjects, but they worked some concepts better here than in Aduba episode.April 29, 2020 at 4:03 pm #1203454117
Almost everyone was predicting Margo Martindale to be snubbed for The Good Wife (and even for The Good Fight).
Not true. Even many of the editors were predicting her and were constantly speaking about her in the slug-fests (obviously I do not remember how many stayed with her for their final predictions).April 29, 2020 at 4:45 pm #1203454147
This was my favorite episode so far. Great storyline for Brenda Feigen. Rose Byrne continues to shine! Cate Blanchett and John Slattery were great as well.April 29, 2020 at 6:24 pm #1203454243
Ari Graynor was amazing in the latest episode. I’ve never really paid much attention to her work, but she really held her own against Blanchett during the debate scene and knocked it out of the park in the quieter scenes. Best episode so far.April 29, 2020 at 7:53 pm #1203454340
I’ve been rooting for Ari Graynor since her breakout role in “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist,” and was thrilled to see her get such a great episode and deliver a strong performance. This was probably my favorite episode so far. Cate Blanchett was so great with the bungled debate, her confrontation with Fred and her piano conversation with her son.April 29, 2020 at 8:52 pm #1203454438
I keep thinking about the piano scene. It was really haunting.April 29, 2020 at 8:58 pm #1203454452
Wow. Wow wow wow Ari Graynor just exploded onto the scene. I haven’t seen any of her work before. She is tremendous. I’ve thought–and still think–that Byrne is the frontrunner of the supporting women, but in the scenes between Brenda and Gloria I could not stop watching Graynor. She deserves a nomination for what she did in last night’s episode alone.
And Blanchett had some of her best work thus far in this last episode. Blanchett retrieving the wallet and paying off the man at her door was a real harrowing moment.April 30, 2020 at 4:53 am #1203454946
Wasn’t expecting that “Thank you, daddy”April 30, 2020 at 7:38 am #1203455136
I Gay Shrieked when Brenda said “Cite the Case”. Graynor was fantastic in the episode as a whole, but her attitude in that scene was amazing.April 30, 2020 at 8:09 am #1203455236
I finally caught up to this and wow the last episode was everything. That debate scene between Graynor and Blanchett was delicious. Graynor held her own against the brilliant Blanchett and she deserves a nod. Byrne is always good and should be a lock for a nom. Ullmann disappeared in this episode which is sad because she’s such a stand out in the first few episodes. Slattery is amazing but that makeup was a mess.
Also I choked when Blanchett said “Thank you, Daddy.”April 30, 2020 at 8:25 am #1203455277
Every week there is an amazing performance from one of the supporting women. At this point I want them to push Byrne in Lead so they’d get at least one more supporting actress nomination. Honestly, at this point, I wouldn’t be sad if all 6 of the nominations went to this show and we are yet to see Banks and Paulson episodes.
Adam Brody was surprisingly good, and I’d like it if he was eligible but apparently this was a guest spot.April 30, 2020 at 8:46 am #1203455331

I think Riley said there’s no Paulson episode.April 30, 2020 at 8:49 am #1203455340
I believe the second to last is hers. It doesn’t have her name as the title because all of the characters are in the same place or something, but it’s centered around her.
