I know there is a “Glee” thread, but no one gives a flying sandwich about it, so I’m putting my question here.
They deserved Emmy nominations before. They were both in five episodes. They are very good in most of these episodes.
Why do we not consider them as contenders? It’s the perfect chance to reward their brilliant presence in the show. Like if Margaret Cho made it for “30 Rock”, I believe both of the ladies, or at least one of them can make it as well for “Glee”.April 6, 2015 at 9:04 am #345338
I never thought of this as a possibilty, but I think it could be a possibility. Naya Rivera has been showing up on The View a lot and is going to be on Devious Maids. Maybe they will remember her name and check her off. Heather Morris is pretty funny but nothing this year was that funny for her and she hasn’t been in the public eye as much as RiveraApril 6, 2015 at 10:31 am #345339
Gwyneth Paltrow couldn’t do it last year so I doubt they can. Which is a shame… Naya Rivera was robbed for the second and third seasons of the show! She had such a TREMENDOUS tape with “Silly Love Songs” an episode in which she got rave reviews. She was a scene stealer pretty much in every episode of the show. Why she was snubbed in a time when Glee was soaring with popularity, is beyond me.April 6, 2015 at 11:28 am #345340

Margaret Cho got nominated for a cameo, so you could compare her to anyone and she would be less deserving.
I remember when we considered Allison Janney a strong possibility for guest actress for the final season of Lost
because of her name recognition, but the nominee ended up being
Elizabeth Mitchell, who was the preferred choice by everyone who watched
the show to make up for past snubs. It would be nice if Naya Rivera
and Heather Morris got similar treatment.

Definately can see Rivera making the cut but not as much Morris (who in my opinion was great but not as good as Rivera)April 6, 2015 at 11:52 am #345342
I would prefer Rivera too as she is a far better actress. However, I think Morris has a better tape in ‘A Wedding’, which showcases her character far more than Rivera’s. I can’t really think of tape for Rivera this season.April 6, 2015 at 11:54 am #345343
It’s weird and sort of insulting to think of Naya Rivera as a “guest actress” when she was at the heart of keeping “Glee” afloat after Cory Monteith’s death. But that’s how the new Emmy rules roll now, and there’s no way she would have made the cut in supporting actress in a comedy series. The numbers don’t lie after the whole Lea Michele debacle took shape off-camera. Guest actress comedy is certainly the easier placement, and any nomination to recognize Rivera’s contributions to the series is better than nothing. I wouldn’t nominate Heather Morris for anything, however.April 6, 2015 at 12:12 pm #345344
FYI: Reports are that the episodes Glee are sending to Emmy voters are ‘Loser Like Me, Homecoming, The Hurt Locker Part One, and The Hurt Locker Part Two’. Looks like they are only hoping for a Jane Lynch nomination!April 6, 2015 at 12:54 pm #345345
Naya Rivera totally deserved a Supporting Actress nomination years ago when the show was game. Now I don’t think anyone involved is seriously considered – and if it is, WHY?April 6, 2015 at 1:53 pm #345346
I think the finale Directing and Lynch can both make it.
And now I’m just hoping someone sees this thread and submit Rivera & Morris. They are both deserving. But I would be incredibly happy for only one of them (Rivera) in the race as well.April 6, 2015 at 4:14 pm #345347
Yeah, I mentioned this for Naya Rivera in the Glee thread (but I guess I know now that no one cares about that one, lol, thanks Vincelette), and I think she could make it possibly. Her most memorable moment this season was in, I believe, Jagged Little Tapestry, when Santana goes on an awesome tirade against Kurt for not supporting her and Brittany’s engagement.April 6, 2015 at 4:54 pm #345348
Yeah, Heather Morris doesn’t deserve any consideration. But yeah….Naya Rivera should have 3 Emmy nominations already.
That being said, if Ryan Murphy has any power in Hollywood, Naya won’t be anywhere near an Emmy list. She won’t even be submitted. Given Naya’s treatment in the final season (now that we’ve seen the final season, I think the rumours that she was being fired after season 5 was absolutely true, but they noticed what backlash they were getting for it, so they decided to humour the fans and just bring her back for a few episodes), she’s not going to be promoted for an Emmy nom.April 6, 2015 at 5:13 pm #345349
Naya Rivera is more deserving of recognition, but they are in the comedy categories and Heather Morris stole scenes in the first season and had a decent submission the next year with “Britney/Brittany”.

That scene alone is deserving of an acting Emmy. It was funny, intense and a big WTF moment for sure. Rivera nailed it.
