Stunning. Just stunning. Probably doesn’t have a chance at the Emmys, but it deserves all of the awards. However, I honestly do hope that it would be left at one season because that ending was perfect, and I don’t feel the need for the show to explore anything beyond that because it did what it needed to do, said what it needed to say, and wrapped up both characters’ storylines perfectly and beautifully, and anything else would really just seem extraneous. What a wonderful, wonderful treat. With this, Sex Education, and the final season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, 2019 is shaping up to be an awesome year for Netflix.February 3, 2019 at 10:41 pm #1202760615This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.February 3, 2019 at 11:06 pm #1202760621
Not sure if or when I’ll watch this but the way Netflix treats some of its shows, I’d say don’t get your hopes up for Emmy love for this.
Whether it gets any Emmy love or not, this is a fantastic show. I was skeptical of Lyonne at first because I only knew her from OITNB, but she is a pleasant surprise. She’s carrying the show extremely well. I’m on episode 4 and I’m definitely a fan.February 9, 2019 at 2:46 pm #1202766458This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.February 12, 2019 at 10:23 am #1202773519
I liked this level Lady Dynamite/Search Party season 1 (best of the decade). I’ve never been fond of Natasha Lyonne as an actress, but this character suits her so well and I hope she gets to win some awards for it. Everything was terrifically written. I’m still processing the last episode and that ending. So ambiguous yet so perfect. My overrall grade: A+.February 13, 2019 at 6:21 pm #1202775239
Lyonne was fantastic, as was the rest of the cast. This show was able to defy and exceed the expectations of a show with this premise. It was dark, gritty, funny and it got better as it went along. I loved the ending.
I actually disagree with those who say there should be no second season. Since the last episode was my favorite, I’m excited to see where they go and there still is more they could do with it. Expecting a nomination for Lyonne and maybe a writing nomination for the pilot and/or a directing nomination for the finale.February 13, 2019 at 6:45 pm #1202775280
I heard in a podcast that the creators have a three season plan, but I can’t remember where or if they said it was definite or if that’s what they thought. So with that said, I guess if this competes anywhere it would be the comedy categories? It unfortunately doesn’t really feel like an emmy type of show but if the acclaim and buzz is enough to carry it (already getting best of the year reviews and everyone I know is talking about) then I could see it maybe breaking in like the comedy Killing Eve, Lyonne and maybe a writing or directing nom. If so, Lyonne should be able to give Brosnahan and Dreyfuss a run for their money, although I doubt she can.
The timing of this is also unfortunate, as it definitely helped with the buzz it now means it has to sustain that buzz for 8 months if it wants any awards consideration (which may not be something they care about), but as such a critical darling it would have been nice for it to get some heat from the globes or the critics choice awards to start.
With all that said, this show was incredible, I was traumatized in the best way possible, and just give Natasha Lyonne all my possessions.February 14, 2019 at 12:32 pm #1202776266

More to do with the same characters or the same storyline? I’m not opposed to either.February 23, 2019 at 1:00 pm #1202786464
The finale is an all-time great episode.June 9, 2019 at 8:28 pm #1202930303
Dead to Me announced its renewal during its FYC panel. The Good Place announced its final season during its FYC panel. Russian Doll did not announce a renewal during its FYC panel. What is going on over there?June 9, 2019 at 9:51 pm #1202930358
Maybe they’ll only renew it if it gets Emmy noms? Either way, it’s stressing me out so incredibly much that we’ve just heard NOTHING about this. Netflix usually makes its decisions within three months and it’s been four now… All of my fingers (and toes) are crossed…June 9, 2019 at 11:56 pm #1202930429This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.June 12, 2019 at 1:34 pm #1202934902
Renewed for season two!!! Yay!!!January 4, 2020 at 5:37 pm #1203260400
Just finished the pilot and was blown away by it. Natasha Lyonne was stellar! Nadia fits her like a glove in the same way that Nicky did. I’m in for the entire season now, though I’m curious how a high-concept comedy series like this sustaines itself for multiple seasons.
