My favourite part of following the Emmy race each year is all the records and stats. I’ve seen some already posted in the reactions forums and some Gold Derby articles. Can we collect them all here?

37-year gap between Eddie Murphy’s first Emmy nomination for “SNL” and his current Emmy nomination. This more than doubles the time span set by the previous record-holder.

Not a record or a stat (I guess), but Lupita N’yongo and Chiwetel Ejiofor are both nominated for Outstanding Narrator!

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

Stefani Robinson is now the first black woman to receive multiple nominations for writing, for solo written entries (“Atlanta” and “What We Do in the Shadows”)

“Schitt’s Creek” (15) now overtakes “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “30 Rock” (13 each) as the comedic show with the most nominations for a final season.

I will add the asterisk that the 30 Rock franchise received fifteen nominations that final year.  (Schitt’s Creek contended additionally this year for their “Best Wishes, Warmest Regards” special.)

Succession is the first show in modern Emmy history to have the biggest number of acting nominations after being shut out of SAG.

Ozark is the first drama series to get 3 writing nominations since Mad Men season 5 and What We Do in the Shadows is the first comedy series since 30 Rock season 3 to get 3 writing nominations.

    They get what they deserve!

Just want to say I swear if The Morning Show wins Directing over The CrownOzark and Succession I’ll give up predicting awards. Even Homeland deserves it more and I’ve seen an episode of that show in my life!

    Dramas triple-nominated for writing:
    1. Lou Grant
    2. Hill Street Blues
    3. St. Elsewhere (never won series)
    4. L.A. Law
    5. Northern Exposure
    6. NYPD Blue
    7. The Sopranos
    8. Mad Men
    9. Ozark (yet to win series)

    Comedies triple-nominated for writing:
    1. The Mary Tyler Moore Show
    2. All in the Family
    3. Taxi
    4. Cheers
    5. The Wonder Years
    6. The Larry Sanders Show (never won series)
    7. Arrested Development
    8. 30 Rock
    9. What We Do in the Shadows (yet to win series)

Atlanta, Russian Doll and Veep each tried submitting three, but could only get two nominated. Given how Ozark got all nine of its episodic submissions nominated across writing/directing/editing/cinematography (after going 0/1 in writing the last two years), while Better Call Saul missed directing/editing/cinematography, you can argue that all of Ozark‘s writing nominations were in the top five and that Better Call Saul came sixth and seventh (and eighth).

    43% vs. 60% though.

Still it is the first Drama to get three writing nominations since Mad Men s5. In no way am I a stan of the show but you’ve got to say that’s pretty impressive (especially considering this day and age of television).

If it lost, Homeland would hold the sole record of being the biggest loser in Drama Directing. It was previously tied with Breaking Bad. Interestingly, Lesli Linka Glatter would also become the biggest loser in this category if that happened.

HTGAWM would tie Game of Thrones as the biggest loser in Drama Guest Actress if it failed to win.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is just going to extend its losing streak in Comedy Series.

Sandra Oh could extend her own record this year.

I was so ready to predict Lesli Linka Glatter, then Homeland got no other nominations and Jason Bateman was snubbed.

Not sure if this is a record, but this is the third time Jean Smart and Holland Taylor have faced off at the Emmys, in three different categories for three different roles.

-In 2000 for Comedy Guest Actress, Smart won for Frasier and Taylor was nominated for The Lot

-In 2008 for Comedy Supporting Actress, Smart won for Samantha Who? and Taylor was nominated for Two and a Half Men

-Now for Limited Series Supporting Actress for Watchmen and Hollywood
