Best Actress in a Comedy: Meryl Streep (The Prom)I read the book for this about a while ago, and it was… bad. They’re also going to have to expand the story immensely to fit eight hours. No spoilers, but there’s a long drug trip sequence that could either be very cool on screen (like Euphoria) or turn out completely awful. Most of those characters are just not deep enough or exciting enough to carry that long of a series, so they’ll have to take lots of liberties in adapting. The talent behind the series has me excited, and I think the creative team can work well with the story built, so I still have hope they can make it good, but… I’m worried about this now.
ReplyCopy URLI agree the book had a good premise and it even started off with a lot of promise but the characters were just not developed well at all. I don’t know if the problem lied with having nine main characters and the switching of POV’s but whatever it was Moriarty just did not do a good job. It’s not all bad and there are some isolated moments that make it compelling enough so the writers could just expand the story a little and hopefully actually spend time developing the characters so they turn out a lot less hallow.
