Even if this sucks , it’s at least going to be gorgeous to look at. The pics of the Reserve that they are filming in Australia looks gorgeous.

Per Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCarthy Instagram , they officially finished filming. So Nicole will have two limited series chances this Emmy cycle. I’m curious to see if they kept the character Russian accent from book  for The show.

on covid side, I would just stay there for now instead of returning to mess of USA. Ha

I wonder if they will push this back to past June to be eligible for the 2022 Emmys, and she has a chance to win back-to-back. Disney said the show would get released on Hulu in 2021, but did not give an exact date or time-frame…

I believe I saw somewhere that it was expected to premiere in March.

March? Really? I didn’t see that and it wouldn’t be a good move strategically for Kidman.

Witherspoon had it happen with 3 shows and the Emmys shut her out. I could be totally wrong, but I wonder if they care at this stage in their careers. They’re both so in charge of their projects now and are at the top of their professional fields (and have won every single major award their industry can offer). Maybe the commercial success is where their interests lie and critical backing is just a bonus.

Or I can just tell myself this to justify them both not getting nominated for season 2 of BLL cause wtf was that about?

I always saw it as Hulu spring limited series of 2021 so march wouldn’t surprise me. They are not going to postpone the release just because The Undoing exists.

To be honest at this point does Kidman in The Undoing even have a chance at an Emmy nomination? Because she’s definitely starting off behind Coel, Taylor-Joy and potentially Winslet and then there’s Olsen, Garner, Mara, Mbedu, potentially Chastain and potentially Miller who could be ahead of her.

With more recent and potentially buzzier and more acclaimed work she’d probably stand a better chance at a nomination so I don’t think it’s necessarily that much of a bad move for her.

FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. ACTRESS – Carey Mulligan AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY — EMERALD FENNELL), VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", ESSIE DAVIS FOR "BABYTEETH"

And considering Kelley’s writing was dragged in The Undoing, it’s better for him to compete with this too lol.

People stopped talking about The Undoing immediately it ended whereas people are still talking about TQG, IMDY, TGLB and Small Axe. The Undoing won’t hurt this show’s chances at all.

In my social circle, nobody is talking about or has seen any of those shows, with the exception of The Queens Gambit. Everyone has seen or knows of The Undoing. I’m in the UK and you can’t walk the length of yourself without seeing The Undoing plastered on a billboard. All of the mentioned shows will be “old news” by the time Emmy nominations are announced and that includes The Queens Gambit; someone like Nicole Kidman should be the least concerned about being forgotten.

I see them snubbing her because she’s so popular and prolific that they will spread the wealth elsewhere, but not because she wasn’t memorable in The Undoing or because the performance wasn’t there.
