It might be time to take a second glance at your Emmy predictions, folks… Netflix has announced today that the second season of “Bloodline” will premiere on May 27th, just in time for Emmy consideration! Here’s a link to the story: http://www.ew.com/article/2016/03/21/bloodline-season-2-premiere-date

I’m excited to see the show back as I loved the cast and thought the slow burn worked really well. Curious to see where they go this season…

I’m awfully skeptical this can work without Mendelsohn, despite Chandler’s typically fine work. The other characters are just such a drag to watch.

Ha I am actually excited for this – I definitely liked it more than the critical consensus.

Without Mendehlson I am not sure if it is going to work but maybe that will allow more room for screentime for Spacek and Cardellini.

I think Chandler is in – I hope not at the expense of Malek and rather replacing one of the Billions guys but we’ll see.

Ben Mendelsohn is still a series regular.

Excited about this news. Season 2 is only 10 episodes, which I’m excited about because parts of the first season dragged and it did not need to be 13 episodes. Hopefully now the series will seem a little more exciting and fast-paced (though I still quite enjoyed it!)

Say hello to Chandler and Mendelsohn repeat Emmy nods this year – ya’ll better pencil those in now!

(PS for those of you surprised to hear that Ben Mendelsohn will be a series regular, he is very likely appearing in flashbacks or in dreams/guilty hallucinations – and will probably very much be a Supporting Character this year)

Oh weird – I just assumed (for obvious reasons) that he wouldn’t be back.

In any case, it seems like a character that only appears in flashback can’t have THAT large an impact on the forward momentum of the story but we’ll see. I guess technically most of the first season was a giant flashback so….

I wonder if this season is a bit more warmly recieved if it will expand its Emmy footprint or if the ship has sailed on this one for additional acting/writing and directing noms.

Finally, we get a premiere date. I was beginning to think this wouldn’t make the deadline, and instead Netflix gives the show a prime spot before voting begins. If Bloodline doesn’t undergo a sophomore slump, I think both Chandler & Mendelsohn are safe to get nominated again.

This is just wonderful. This awful drag of a show gets its second season after the sluggish bullshit from the first. Oh and let’s name check Kyle Chandler just because he’s Kyle Chandler.

This could be too late for voters to watch it (think the fourth season of Arrested Development), but it may not matter.

Yeah, none of my predictions are going to change except for adding Kyle Chandler into best actor (which will be a name-check nomination). May has been an increasingly hard release date for Netflix in terms of Emmy recognition. Both Arrested Development and Grace & Frankie severly underperformed.

Even if season two of Bloodline is critically acclaimed I doubt enough voters will make the time to watch it before the end of voting.

I like the show so I’m not sad about it coming back so soon. But I was hoping that Justin Theroux or Matthew Rhys could get a nom in the Drama Actor category, but Chandler being eligable made that chance a lot smaller

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

And hopefully that can give Sissy Spacek something to do

They both received pretty bad reviews from critics though
