Details are scarce, as usual, but HBO has announced that the tenth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm will premiere January 2020, and released this teaser:

Still no specific airdate, but I’d be surprised if it didn’t coincide with Avenue 5‘s series premiere on January 19, unless the episode counts don’t align.

ReplyCopy URLDecember 11, 2019 at 11:42 am #1203232024Jeff Garlin did an interview recently that said the show will be referencing Marty Funkhouser, but the character won’t be killed off:
“By the way, no, we don’t talk about his character dying on the show,” he says. “Why do we need that on a comedy show? That doesn’t fit on our show. There is no melancholy on Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
I’m sure they’ll dedicate the season premiere or an episode to him, though.

I appreciate that. It wouldn’t fit the tone of the show to make any drama out of Funkhouser dying, and it would be in bad taste if they killed the character and just brushed aside his death. I’ll miss Bob Einstein’s contributions. He was always a hoot on Curb. Sad that he’s gone.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 12, 2019 at 9:16 am #1203233707I think the way I envisioned it was the way “Will & Grace” handled Rosario’s death, which would be to have all the cast and memorable people Larry’s met, past and present, converging to celebrate Funkhauser’s life. All types of hijinks would then ensue, etc. Can you imagine Rosie O’Donnell or Chris Williams there? The “Seinfeld” crew? But whatever. I’m sure they will end up doing something that’s both fitting and tasteful.

Synopsis: Season Ten Premiere. Larry kicks off the new year with a new rival–Mocha Joe. Later, at a cocktail party hosted by Jeff and Susie, Larry gets roped into lunch plans and has a misunderstanding with a caterer.
Discuss.

The premiere was pretty good.
