Daenerys’s big moments feel especially unearned to me when they come at the end of an episode that she has not previously appeared. They could make the most boring episode of the series and as long as they stuck the dragons at the end of it, it would get a pass from the audience. It is a cheat and I see through it.

For a while, it seemed like “Blood of My Blood” would be my favourite episode of the season, but the plot developments were ultimately just as confusing as they were cool. Good to see Arya turn on that stupid cult and retrieve Needle, but why now? She made it this far.

I also liked how focused the episode was at first. We spent some time with Sam, then spent a lot of time with him when we checked in with him again. But then the episode jumped over to Walder Frey and Daenerys and was ultimately just as messy as your standard Game of Thrones, even if it did not check in on Tyrion or Jon and Sansa. Too bad that Essie Davis’s arc as Lady Crane is over. She should have an Oscar nomination for The Babadook.

Watch out for “Blood of My Blood” winning the editing Emmy. Not only did it start with that vision super-cut, but Yan Miles won the Emmy, BAFTA and ACE for the last season of Sherlock and that name recognition bodes well in the popular vote system.

I’m very interested in see how the show handle the situation with Tommen because if Tommen die the IT has to pass to next person with royal blood and there’s no Stanni, Shiren or Renly.

Ironically enough, it seems that Daenerys is Tommen’s heir, since she is the closest relative to Baratheon’s. Of course in theory, because in practice, when Tommen dies, there is going to be just chaos and random people fighting for throne.

I have a theory and is that when Tommen die (is not a IF but when) the IT will be destroyed and that´s what Dany find when she finally reach to Westeros.

The Oscar needs to get rid of the preferential ballot so it can name a deserving movie as Best Picture again.

When Tommen dies, Cersei will probably go berserk and destroy KL with wildfire.

I’m ready for Arya’s story to finally move forward, and first things first is in killing that sidekick girl who’s after her now. Really liked all of those meta play scenes tho lol.

I loved when Lady Crane was moaning about being a good actress given a bad script- definitely a reflection of the show itself.

I don’t know why The Waif wants to kill Arya so bad. There’s never been any development towards her reasons for resenting Arya.

“I loved when Lady Crane was moaning about being a good actress given a bad script- definitely a reflection of the show itself”.

    You must be joking….

There are people here who obviously don’t know the meaning of the word “crappy”…

And Sansa is the best character on the show! Period.

Well, Gendry Baratheon is still out there, somewhere.

Bastards can’t inherit. One of the big misteries of the books and/show is if the child of the Tower of Joy is legitimate or not. Probably the show will answer that in the season finale since that is the next time Robert Aramayo appear in Game of Thrones. If that child is legitimate is a real game changer.

The Oscar needs to get rid of the preferential ballot so it can name a deserving movie as Best Picture again.

I have a feeling it will turn out that Rhaegar married Lyanna. It wouldn’t be the first polygamy in Targaryen family.

Usually it’s the last scene of the episode that saves the day for GoT. But this time it was the complete opposite. The focus was tight, and the script was passable. A lot could have been saved if they ended the episode with Arya blowing out the candle. Her story started to get ten times more interesting once she started to interact with that theater troupe. They should have interpreted the RW, as well.
With that being said, gosh, can Dany be any more boring? I guess we needed her giving a speech at the top of a dragon in somewhere, and a scene that she convinces/commands Dothraki to Westeros on screen, but why this way?

The only thing I liked about that irrelevant scene is that it somehow planted to seed(or highlighted this thickly for the first time) ”evil-ish Dany” for the future. Or that’s how I wanted to read. I mean, if one can take his eyes from the dragons and literally reads those subtitles when she talks in that language, leading three magical beasts and thousands of rapist savages to another country that has recently been broken by war and famine just because she thinks that common people would grass their animals better with her sitting on that iron chair can’t be any good by any logical perspective. Bu that’s how the brains of most of the nobles work in this show, anyway.

    Gilly is just perfect.

I don’t think any of these were determined by popularity vote and I doubt he actually has the name recognition to fit the criteria. This has been his 3th or 4th high profile work.
That was only for one show.

So Diana Rigg either gets killed or leaves the KL out of the blue(again) in the next episode just when thigs start to get tricky ? She’s been in the previews and can’t be in more than 5 episodes since HBO submitted her for the guest category. Doubt she dies, but boo on them if they actually changed the script to make her eligible because it looks like it wouldn’t make sense in the story.

Now we’re at it, van Sydow was terribly underused and would be a COMPLETE name check if he gets the nomination. Please no, Emmy voters. I know it’s not the hardest category there is, but I’m sure you could find more deserving contenders from the shows I don’t watch.

Name recognition would be the only reason, since the work itself is actually nothing recognition-worthy.

I would like to see Essie Davis nominated over Diana Rig.
