I am thinking that Mark Mylod gets the premiere, David Nutter gets an episode in the middle, Alan Taylor gets the penultimate and Miguel Sapochnik gets the finale.

    Please, no Alan Taylor again.

Miguel Sapochnick, Neil Marshall and David Nutter

The Oscar needs to get rid of the preferential ballot so it can name a deserving movie as Best Picture again.

Can we just have Sapochnik doing the entire last season, with maybe David Nutter for the first one/two episode/s.

I did not include Neil Marshall because his Hellboy reboot precludes him from having the time to return.  Alan Taylor should have won the Emmy for “Baelor”, actually won the Emmy for the final season of The Sopranos and won DGA for the Mad Men pilot.  The man is quite capable; just give him one of the more human episodes.  He might also knock a battle episode out of the park if given another chance, given that he has “Beyond the Wall” behind him now, as well as two Hollywood blockbusters and the first two Game of Thrones finales.

Michelle MacLaren is busy with The Nightingale and will prioritize The Deuce once she finishes with that over Game of Thrones.  They should get Tim Van Patten back.  His miniseries Black Flags is in a bit of development hell right now.  It is hard to find people who have openings in their schedule large enough to accommodate this.  I looked up Mimi Leder and Greg Yaitanes.  How about Allen Coulter?  He has directed every HBO or prestige show in the last couple decades by this one.  Do we know why the showrunners have only directed one episode?  Really though, they should look into hiring their second and third female directors ever.

“Eastwatch” was a decent but not spectacular episode of Game of Thrones, but “The Spoils of War was easily the highlight of the entire season, so I’m sad Matt Shakman won’t be returning. Hopefully they bring back Michelle Maclaren or get another female director for the show, its about time!

    McClaren was another huge disappointment.

The Oscar needs to get rid of the preferential ballot so it can name a deserving movie as Best Picture again.

Sapochnik is the one we need.

This year I stan: Taron Egerton for Rocketman / Brad Pitt, Margaret Qualley and Dakota Fanning for OUATIH (so far)
