Kathy Bates is hilarious in this role, and this can also be a very strong episode submission for her in the 2012 Emmy race. Also, I expect Jean Smart and definitely Alfred Molina to show up in the guest acting categories next year.
I need to thank David E. Kelley for the great improvement of this show from Season 1 to Season 2. Looking back on it, Season 1 was HORRIBLE compared to just the first two episodes of Season 2. At this rate, I could see a Best Drama Emmy nomination in its future.

I didn’t understand why the show was getting such a bad reaction from critics, etc., because it seemed pretty good to me. But if there was a huge change in quality from last season to this, that would explain it.

I assume Bates will get even better material this season, and as I said before, Smart is giving a phenomenal performance.

All they have to do is move it to where it was on Monday and then it would be fine. NBC is not going to cancel Harry’s Law before Prime Suspect, or Parenthood, or SVU, or any show you can name!
ReplyCopy URLOctober 6, 2011 at 9:01 am #225362Yet another great episode! Jean Smart and Kathy Bates have incredible chemistry together. Karen Olivo is very strong in this series, and, if given a baity story line, I could see her breaking into Outstandig Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. The only problem with this series is the night and timeslot it is in. NBC, please move this show back to Monday nights. Two new series are not very good lead ins. Or, put SVU at 9 and this show at 10. Anyway, that last “daddy” scene was OUTSTANDING and gave me chills. That alone is an Emmy-winning scene.
Next weeks episode looks very good as well. Especially with Camryn Maheim returning!

Kelley, extending the season order from thirteen to nineteen, if all six additional scripts are produced. Hopefully this confidence will translate into more viewers, and maybe a new timeslot come midseason!
