Don’t get me wrong, this is no Lost/Breaking Bad-level pilot episode, but it has a remarkable realism to it. Not only that, but it is rare that a PILOT could work so well as its own lead actress’ Emmy tape. That’s all I’ll say for now, but Claire Danes is terrific.

However, how long can this show last under this sort of premise? Will there be seven seasons of a game of cat and mouse? Perhaps I should see more than just the pilot to get a better grasp of how things might turn out.

It`s such a riveting and intriguing episode, cant wait to watch more of this show.

Claire Danes looks like a clear contender for Actress at this point. And it appears to be in the race for several other major awards as well – Series, Directing, Writing, Actor, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress.
Why isn’t there more buzz on this?
And WTF is going on here in Canada…I can’t even find a broadcaster that will be airing what seems to be the best reviewed new show of the year?!?!? Help!
ReplyCopy URLOctober 2, 2011 at 2:07 pm #228223It was a great pilot. Acting top notch and by god the writing was great. This was one of the few time I’ve seen a cable show without noticing that it had no act breaks. Usually without them the story feels like it’s going nowhere but this is different.
Psycollogical thrillers (eg: damages) always work better with emmy voters than full all out thrillers. But could this be 24 all over again? A highly rated thriller who gains respect in the comunity for years and then finally wins in its 5th bid, hence beating competition like The West Wing, The Sopranos and Grey’s Anatomy?
My only concern is that if Homeland wins The Good Wife will have to wait another year. Maybe Homeland could win the Golden Globe and TGW the emmy. That would seem fair. I’m saying this because I feel emmy voters will think three times before voting for mad men next year. Four times is a lot. A milestone only 4 shows have ever reached.

She’s a pill-popping CIA operative that enjoys picking guys up at bars, planting cameras in people’s homes, seducing her superiors, turning meetings in to interrogations, and saying “Fuck this shit!” She’s the greatest character I’ve ever seen, and Claire Danes is bringing it.
