With ratings dropping and Scandal already ending, is there any chance that How to Get Away with Murder just won’t return for season 5? TGIT shows have received renewal notices early the last couple of years, but I can see this being on the bubble until ABC sees how Station 19 and For the People perform.
I hope HTGAWM sticks around for at least another season. I can see Station 19 doing well but For the People doesn’t look too good.February 13, 2018 at 5:30 am #1202493042
Doubt they will be cancelled. Sure ratings have dropped some from live viewing, but they always make up for that in DVR viewing. But unless something drastic happens, I think HTGAWM will be granted at least 2 more seasons. They will make sure they have a sizeable amount of episodes for syndication first, which i’m sure was the ultimate goal, the minute Viola agreed to do the show. If anything, next season, they will switch their time slot, or perhaps even the night it comes on.
@Luca Gilberti, those are excellent choices. While i’m not saying for certain Vee will get nominated this year, as there is some stiff competition coming from new shows, i’m not really concerned about Mandy Moore. The spotlight seems to be continually on Sterling K. I do think she still has a great shot.
@vinny, I definitely think it will be around.February 13, 2018 at 6:16 am #1202493067
I definitely think that it is our job here as well to spread our excitement for these actors. With twitter, Facebook, and so on, we have so many ways to do that. You can write Emails to the Emmys and tag them in your tweets, while many think it may not help, who knows. I am not saying this show deserves to be nominated (I adore it but it is not an Emmy-type show) but these actors are very underrated despite their talent. Supporting actor is a very weak category this year and Jimmy Smits deserves it as much as a David Harbour or Peter Dinklage does. And not even Viola is a lock, she is vulnerable this year even though she’s had fantastic material. Also this show has so brilliant guest actors and actresses.
So make sure you try to talk about this as much as you can!

TODAY IS THE DAY FOR THE SCANDAL/HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER CROSSOVER!
It first starts with Scandal’s episode, “Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself”, where Olivia Pope meets Annalise Keating!
Then, the 13th episode of this season airs tonight, “Lahey v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania”.
Episode Description: As Annalise’s class-action case hangs in the balance, a meeting with the esteemed Washington D.C. fixer, Olivia Pope, proves to be crucial in getting the opportunity to argue her case in the nation’s highest court. Meanwhile, Bonnie discovers concerning information pertaining to Simon that threatens to expose what really happened during night he was shot.
Who, even THINKS they’re ready???March 1, 2018 at 6:26 am #1202503253
Always think I’m ready but never really am lol. I really want to see Huck and Frank interact the most. Just to see Huck’s reaction to Frank going “Oh I’ve done this, that, that, that, and the other thing. What about you?”March 2, 2018 at 4:38 am #1202503927
What an episode! Actually, they handled the crossover superbly, and Viola & Kerry’s chemistry was beautiful! Loving the class action case story, and Viola is playing it for all it’s worth! If she receives her well deserved 4th consecutive emmy nomination, i’d be willing to bet she’ll submit “Lahey v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania”, and rightfully so! I loved how they managed to get Cicely back for another episode this season as well.

The twist at the end make me cringe with anxiety.March 2, 2018 at 6:12 am #1202503978
WOW one of the things about this episode was it reminded me of the show is at its very best when Annalise is in that courtroom! I absolutely loved the dynamic between Olivia & Annalise. Also even though it happened in the Scandal episode, the scene with them in the hair salon was pure gold! They read each other for filth! LOL
Only 2 more episodes left, and if they keep on this path, they are really going to end this season on a great note!

This episode…….Mind blown. Only part I hated was Michela and Marcus becuase I kinda ship Asher and Michaela. My grade: A+March 2, 2018 at 2:41 pm #1202504316
A++ absolutely. It was incredible. What else can I say? Viola, Cicely, and Kerry were just breathtaking.

When I tell you Viola & Kerry did that! They did it! Both episodes also provided some of the best writing i’ve seen on both shows to date! Viola’s courtrooom scene and the anxiety attack prior was nothing short of spectacular!! Major shoutout to mama Cicely for always bringing the goods. What a great consolation prize for Ms. Washington it would be if she were to get a Guest Actress nomination and possible win for a great turn. I figured she and Viola would be great together. But I must say, they really exceeded my wildest expectations! BLACK GIRL MAGIC was truly in effect!!!

Can I just say what a incredible privilege it was to see Kerry Washington, Viola Davis and Cicely Tyson on screen together. What a stunning pair of episodes. They could have really fucked this up but my god both were riveting, moving and so enjoyable. Would happily see both Washington and Davis submit in Guest and win because both worked so damn well on the opposite show.
