Question: I think seasons 1 and 2 were one of the best comedies in tv (awful omssion by the emmys), but I was dissapointed with the third one, as I´ve heard many people were too. Has this season improved???November 8, 2014 at 5:29 am #333440
There was already like 3 episodes that were not like anything on last season, so , yes, this is shaping up to be the best season of the series until now, even though that last episode wasn’t all that funny.November 10, 2014 at 9:22 am #333441
As I said in another thread, this season has absolutely improved. Buzzfeed did a whole article interviewing creator Elizabeth Merriweather and basically, Season 3 was a big experiment to see if the Nick and Jess romance would work with fans. As the show scrambled for ideas towards the end of the season with their relationship, the writers had to essentially ditch their romance by breaking them up. Season 4 is going back to core roots of the loft dynamic (season 3 veered away from this) and it’s absolutely working. Ms. Merriweather said they don’t regret doing what they did because they have been able to hit ‘refresh’ and return to the show with a completely new narrative freshness.
I’m a big fan so far, but I’m also interested to see where they take these characters romantically (i.e. will Schmidt and Cece ever get back together, will Jess and Nick find romance separately, will anyone in the loft EVER get have a serious long-term relationship that could…GASP…lead to marriage?)November 19, 2014 at 7:09 am #333442
That was another standout episode, what a tape for Wayans Jr.!!! The whole Guy’s night thing was hillarious.November 27, 2014 at 6:01 pm #333443

New Girl scored a WGA nomination for the episode where Nicks is a secretary lol. The episode is “Landline”, just proves that the writers got their shit together again after the horrible season 3.December 9, 2014 at 9:40 am #333445

“Landline” is one of my all-time favorite episodes of New Girl so that makes me really happy!December 16, 2014 at 6:05 am #333446
Girl Fight was amazing, I didn’t like La X-mas that much , but I enjoyed a lot “Girl Fight”, it is a very good tape for Zooey Deschannel, I hope this show gets one writing nod, pretty good season so far.January 14, 2015 at 7:55 pm #333447
This season is just on fire.January 27, 2015 at 9:40 am #333448
Yes, this season is fantastic. I love the Schmece moments, especially in the Thanksgiving & Christmas episodes. I really hope they get back together in this season and it looks like it’ll happen. Max Greenfield really deserves an Emmy nomination, he’s so good. I just love this guy and the rest of the cast is incredible as well. Hope the show gets an Emmy nod, but I doubt it.
What concerns me is that FOX didn’t renew New Girl for another season, not yet. I hope it happens soon. They should just renew the show for 10 seasons and I’m good.January 28, 2015 at 9:56 am #333449
This season has been pretty good, better than most of Season 3. The fall had some stellar episodes (“Landline” being the one episode that was absolutely on fire), but I’m not sold on the Jess-hot teacher storyline. It’s a little ridiculous. As usual, Max Greenfield is a highlight, but Lamorne Morris is becoming my favorite actor on the show. He’s just great.
I think New Girl is done being on the Emmy voters’ radars, but I’d love to see “Landline” get in for writing or even see Max Greenfield return to supporting actor, but I think it’s a little too competitive, especially with the Modern Family men not seeming to go anywhere (they’ll always take up at least 2 or 3 spots).
I don’t think you have to worry about New Girl not getting renewed. It’s a critical hit, and while the rating have been pretty crappy, I don’t think can Fox can afford to put this back on the shelf. Too many loyal fans!February 20, 2015 at 7:04 pm #333450
WoW, that was great, Best Zooey Deschannel tape on this season, couldn’t stop laughing on the muppets thing. Also Jamie Lee Curtis as Zoey’s mom was hysterical, second best episode of the season behind “landline” .March 4, 2015 at 8:36 pm #333451
Did anyone catch last week’s episode “Spiderhunt”? The exchange scene between Nick and Jess was unbelievable, I could not stop laughing . “it tastes so yummy crap” LOLMarch 5, 2015 at 7:04 am #333452
I thought this week’s “Walk of Shame” was the best episode they have made this season.
