A shame we won’t hear much – if any – about this show on Sunday’s Emmy Awards Show, but damn if it wasn’t one of the 6 best comedies last year.
Season 3 premiere link was posted on the shows twitter page just a bit ago – and it’s awesome. Enjoy!October 2, 2012 at 8:59 am #260583
Raising Hope Episode: “Not Indecent, But Not Quite Decent Enough Proposal”
Season 3, Episode 1
Synopsis: The Chances meet Sabrina’s mother in the Season 2 premiere at the funeral for her grandmother, whose videotaped last will and testament looms large in Jimmy and Sabrina’s relationship.October 2, 2012 at 10:00 am #260584
I agree with Raising Hope being one of the best TV comedies, but it won’t make it big at the Emmys as this rate. The only hope they have is if Martha Plimpton does the right thing and submits in Comedy Supporting Actress. She will definately be nominated and with the right episode she can win. Look at Jaime Presley in Greg Garcia’s previous show “My Name is Earl”
But Cloris Leachman should go back to Guest and then can possibly be nominated again. If she tries to get into Supporting Actress, there will be a very small chance that she’ll be nominated
However, I believe Garrett Dilahunt deserves a nomination, either in Lead or Supporting. I am betting that if he submitted in Supporting Actor and was nominated, with the right episode he could take it from the Modern Family actors. Same with Lead, although it will be harder to be nominated. If he is nominated, he could win the Emmy from current frontrunner Matthew Perry.
Lucas Neff doesn’t really have a chance to be nominated from what we’ve seen, but with an emotional storyline or an amazing performance, Neff could be nominated.
I am predicting this series to make a splash with the Golden Globes next year. A Comedy Actress nod for Plimpton, a Comedy Actor nod for Neff, a Comedy Series nod and quite possibly a nod for Leachman.
Over all, an under-appreciated series which should receive much more attention from the Academy.October 2, 2012 at 10:01 am #260585
I can’t wait for the return of this. Glad Martha finally got the Emmy she deserved for Season 1, even if it was for The Good Wife. I’m interested to see how Melanie Griffith is on the episode. She has some comedic talents, as long as she no longer looks like a puffer fish.October 2, 2012 at 8:40 pm #260586
I commented on the New Girl thread that FOX was having a great night, and Rasing Hope was a big part of that feeling. I loved this episode, it was very good and the jokes all worked. It was nice to see Cloris Leachman getting a lot to do, she had about 20 more lines than usual.
The boobs on the painting was probably my favorite joke.
Melannie Griffith looks awesome, but she’s one of those people that has been so wasted and drugged up that it seems like they loose the ability to speak at a normal speed. It’s as weird as Britney Spears suddenly forgetting how to dance. It seemed like every line coming from Griffith’s mouth took forever, which I’ve seen from her before, even as far back as Working Girl, but it’s reached a point when it becomes just strange and the performance suffers from it.
But, on a show as good as Raising Hope, weird is good and this was another great episode and a perfect return.October 3, 2012 at 8:07 pm #260587
