Premiere wasn’t very good. Liev Schreiber directed this, but he did far better with “Walk This Way.” Pacing all over the place, dream sequences that weren’t done well (those are tricky and require effective handling), and new characters that should have been introduced better. The new plots didn’t grab me like last season’s did with Ian McShane and (gasp) Katie Holmes. Oh well. There’s still time for a turnaround with the rest of the season. “Marisol” airs tomorrow night.July 3, 2016 at 6:28 am #1201859946
So I finally watched the premiere and honestly I didn’t love it. It was ok but overall I was like “That’s it?” Saying that I give it a BJuly 3, 2016 at 4:19 pm #1201860021

Lisa Bonet! Holy shit!July 5, 2016 at 5:14 am #1201860219
What a difference a real director makes! “Marisol” was bananas! I’d nominate Lisa Bonet right now. That’s how great she was here in a kind of role I’ve never seen from her before. I hope Showtime properly campaigns for her next Emmy cycle. I’m much more invested in where this season goes versus the pretty bad and mismanaged season premiere.July 5, 2016 at 6:57 am #1201860239
Um that was by far the best episode of this show I’ve ever seen. A+. Bonet was awesome!July 10, 2016 at 12:15 pm #1201861731
Episode Title: “Little Bill Primm’s Big Green Horseshoe”
Synopsis: An intruder breaks into the Donovans’ house; Mickey plots a casino heist.

I have no idea why I was not impressed by that second episode how you guys were, and I fucking love this show.July 11, 2016 at 4:33 am #1201861831
Ok this episode. First off, I;m getting the feeling that Abby is either going to die at the end of the season. The Mickey heist was just weird to me. I was expecting Oceans Eleven-ish but the goggles on Voight made me laugh more than it should. Connor being completely oblivious made my day though. That apple fell very far from the tree didn’t it lol. Could care less about Bunchy though. My grade: AJuly 11, 2016 at 9:48 am #1201861957
I really hope they find a way to reintegrate Mickey into the greater framework of the ensemble soon. His casino heist storyline was pretty lame, and duh, of course those goons helping him would double-cross him and steal that $4M. Paula Malcomson is finally giving the level of performance that she should have been giving since day 1. Maybe it takes full-on Emmy-bait like this to accomplish that, but an actress worth her salt should make boiling a pot of water riveting entertainment. You either have it or you don’t have it in that regard. Bunchy’s thread is weak. The Russian mob thread coming back to haunt Ray was effective, and any Embeth Davidtz anywhere on television is great. All I wanted was for them to get back to Marisol’s antics, baby! But that’s thankfully on tap for next week’s episode.July 15, 2016 at 1:29 am #1201870177
5 Emmy nominations! Wow. Quite unexpected, but cheers to them all the same. Sleep on this series at your own risk.July 17, 2016 at 2:44 am #1201873722
