Very strong episode. Dan Byrd was perfect in this (I miss Cougar Town), and it seems to me like the best ensemble showcase of the seasno. Lisa got this hilarious “guy” bit, Dalia had her one-liner about logic, Alan Tudyk got his little monologue about his marriage and Cheryl Hines her unintentional double entendres, and even Rex Lee, whose character had not been funny so far, had his “gf” justification that was pretty good. Definitely my favorite episode so far.

Don’t get me wrong. I like this show well-enough, but it feels like something is missing… I feel like the Tessa/George characters need some other people who are “in” on the joke or get that these people they are surrounded by are total morons.    Everybody else is a bit too lacking in depth. It would be a lot funnier if a few more people were relatable.

I have to say, my absolute favorite character on this show is Lisa, the neighboor girl that is Ana Gasteyers daughter on the show.   I think that Rex Lee’s character is out of place here and needs to go.  I would promote Anna Gasteyer and Chris Parnell to series regular’s ASAP, they are hilarious.

Yeah I don’t know why Anna Gasteyer hasn’t been added to the cast, she really does fit in and they do seem to need that neighboor character.

I think that George and Tessa do have somebody else like them, and that’s Lisa. The thing is she’s not used very much and if anybody ever saw her on Weeds, then they should know what this girl can do. But yeah, perhaps more people would work too, the thing is that I don’t know how they would fit into the show, Lisa is that character that’s like them and has the perfect excuse to exist within their story.

I think they really should develop the others more, they seem to come in, throw the joke around and exit, specially Dhalia who should be given a bit more depth, perhaps something away from Tessa, just on her own.

I want to quit watching this show. It’s very try-hard at times, and the lead girl is starting to bug me big time.

However, each time I’m ready to turn off the show, Alan Tudyk comes in and reminds me that I have to keep watching for him.

I’m not as hooked on the show as I could be, but yes, Lisa is great.  I love her, and I always enjoy Ana Gasteyer when she’s on.  It does feel like all of the supporting characters feel too peripheral, because they’re pretty flat, and George and Tessa sometimes don’t feel like enough to sustain the whole show.  That said, I do like the show a lot.  Rex Lee is probably my least favorite part.  His character is okay as the oddball guidance counselor, but he’s got nothing on the nutty guidance counselor from Awkward.
