For the few Gold Derby posters like myself who watch The Blacklist, the fourth season of the show premieres tonight!
Synopsis: Red sets out to find Liz after her abduction by a man claiming to be her father; the Task Force comes to terms with the shocking news that Liz is still alive.

I hope they tell us who her father is soon. Ideal situation: Red is her uncle and the guy who has her is her father. I think that could result in some juicy storyline.September 23, 2016 at 9:24 am #1201926615
This season premiere wasn’t the strongest. My grade: BSeptember 24, 2016 at 9:28 am #1201927138
Agreed, this wasn’t a “big” or explosive season premiere by any means, but I enjoyed it because it’s nice to have The Blacklist back! I will say I’m very glad that they’re playing a longer game with this plot thread, and hopefully Liz and Alexander Kirk will be together for a longer period of time so that they can answer some questions (and create new ones in the process).

Both of these episodes were very good! I’ve been dreading Red taking out Mr. Kaplan because she’s one of my favorite characters on the series, but their scene together leading up to him shooting her was excellent. I wish they hadn’t shown her alive and crawling through the mud in the preview, though, because it would have given tonight’s reveal that she’s still alive a lot more punch. I also really like that they continue to weave together the procedural aspects of the show with the overarching serialized narrative. The CDC plot this week was interesting in its own right, but made even better when we learn exactly why Kirk wanted to get his hands on that virus (and potentially Liz and Agnes).

Synopsis: Red, Liz, and the Task Force attempt to track down an individual engaging in ecological warfare who has a connection to Alexander Kirk; Tom takes matters into his own hands.

I really liked this episode! I found the plot to implode the nuclear power plant on the Hudson to be pretty creepy, but they did a great job humanizing the blacklister of the week. I also really like the Misery-like situation that Mr. Kaplan is in. Is Red behind her being held captive? Or is it coincidental that she’s found and nursed back to life by a dangerous person? I also like the rift they’re setting up between Liz and Tom. We know they’re heading toward a break because Tom has to move onto the spin-off, but I like how they’re laying the groundwork.
The preview for next week looks like we’ll get some significant answers to the big paternity question! They’ve teased us with it before, but I can’t imagine they can drag this out much longer with Alexander Kirk being a recurring character on the show. Whatever the reveal, I hope it’s something unexpected!

This episode was my fav thus far all season. A+.October 28, 2016 at 1:42 pm #1201941526
Agreed! I like how the entire episode played with our understanding of the allegiance between Liz and Reddington. It was equally plausible that she would try to bring Kirk down with Red than she would work behind Reddington’s back to save Kirk’s life. I also liked the heightened role for Aram, although I think they too obviously planted the idea that his girlfriend was with him only to infiltrate the FBI and Red’s team. It’s been a strong start to the season so far!
