These first three episodes are a decent start to what could develop into a great series. I agree that I found the show thus far more humorous and inventive rather than genuinely funny, but I’m more than willing to let the show settle into its tone and comedic voice. What I find more worrisome are the characters, because I don’t care for any of them outside of the Danson-Bell-Harper trio (and maybe D’Arcy Carden as Janet, too, depending on how grating they may tend to write the character in the future). I’m encouraged that the show will be highly serialized, and I think the concept lends itself nicely to other major story arcs that could sustain the show into future seasons. I’m looking forward to seeing more!

3rd ep. was my least favorite one. But things are starting to get interested it seems. I was worried that the whole show would be based on the rivalry of Eleanor and Tahani but now we’ll get some Michael-Eleanor collaboration.
This show needs more ”bad” characters like Eleanor. That is its problem. Everyone’s so good and boring.

The 3rd episode was about on par with the 2-part premiere. There is definitely a ton of promise here. I’m sure as we go along, the writing will become cleaner and the laughs more frequent, just like Parks.
Definitely unlike any other comedy on TV, you can’t argue that.September 27, 2016 at 4:06 pm #1201928361
I feel like I am definitely in the minority but I somehow enjoyed the third episode more than the premiere. It definitely opened up the series in a way that I wasn’t expecting. Danson is really growing on me as well. After he was snubbed for Fargo I could see him making a pretty good run at (definitely) the Globes and (probably) The Emmys – would we say he is lead or supporting?
Then again Schur has had HORRIBLE luck with his actors at Awards shows.September 29, 2016 at 8:48 am #1201929219
That was one of the best network pilots in years for me. So creative, an excellent ensemble, and awesome production design. It reminds me a little of Pushing Daisies except less visual effects heavy. I really hope this show sticks around, NBC is in a bad place with comediesSeptember 29, 2016 at 1:36 pm #1201929356
Episode 1.04: Jason Mendoza
Eleanor faces her toughest test yet in her attempt to stay in hiding. But how can she remain so now that Jianyu knows her secret, and that he, too doesn’t belong in TGP?? Michael enlists Tahani to help a fellow neighbor fulfill her true purpose.September 30, 2016 at 7:45 am #1201929616
It turned out that Jason shouldn’t have waited three episodes to start talking. What a great episode. They paired perfectly with Eleanor and he is now a favorite of mine. A-
Not a fan of this shows twisty endings.October 2, 2016 at 3:05 pm #1201930580
I think in terms of Golden Globe placement:
Danson – Lead Actor
Bell – Lead Actress (and please, folks, no more horse-s saying she’s supporting like those who insisted that’s what she was on House of Lies)
Harper – Supporting ActorOctober 2, 2016 at 6:43 pm #1201930679
Love the show! Watched all four episodes today. I think Ted Danson should go supporting and could win at the Globes and Emmys for it. Kristen Bell is the clear lead, as she is the center of each episode.
Also, LOVE D’Arcy Carden! So hilarious!October 5, 2016 at 8:46 pm #1201932282
