Whose idea was it to put a notice at the end of the closing credits saying that the next Super Bowl will be on NBC?
(Since the winner is supposed to appear in a Super Bowl commercial – Pepsi, I think – I wonder how much Simon & Friends had to give in to Pepsi for the “privilege” of getting to drink from Pepsi-styled cups instead of “that other company” that appears on the cups of “that other show”.)

Of course this is the audition process which is good for any show, and now that the so called Boot Camp is next, I guess The Voice will also be one of the similarities. Of course this show came first, I assume in the UK it’s like this, but I saw The Voice first, so for me, it’s just another “been there done that” aspect of the show. But I do like it and I do like the judges.
Like I said on my post on the other GoldDerby, I can’t believe Steve Jones got this job. That guy gets lost among the contestant’s families. The only reason you notice him is because he’s taller than everybody else, and in some cases (some) he’s the better dressed one there. I can’t imagine what it would be like if he were Ryan’s height. I know he maybe hasn’t gotten his shot and will get it on live shows, but this guy has zero star quality in him. He’s quite the robot. I also love his reactions when the judges are undecided and how he hugs the mom or a dad or a sister while they wait, it’s like “excuse me are you a family member or are you with the show?”. I kept waiting for him to show up in the footage of the family leaving the place.
I’ve had plenty of laughs watching this, I’ve also been very uncomfortable with Nicole, she has shown a lot of times that she’s not entirely up to criticizing or hearing Simon do it like he does. Her looks to him are very mean, she clearly doesn’t approve. And this last episode with the girl she didn’t want to put through and Simon walking away and yelling at her to say “bloddy yes” or “no” was very tough for her. I felt sorry for her really.
L.A is quite the character, the way he moves when he hears black people sing (or the white rapper) is hilarious.
But I’m up for it. I don’t quite like the fact that they pretend like this is for everybody and any age and then come out and just like Idol, divide people and already we’ll see talented people from each group eliminated because there isn’t enough space, while not so talented people on some groups will get put through because they need to fill up space. Kind of like Idol with the separation of boys and girls.
At this point, I’m already in for the whole season.
October 1, 2011 at 2:30 pm #225988Ive been watching this show and so far it’s so meh!
the talent is so been there done that. I am not feeling it.
the only ones I like so far are Jazzlyn Little and that girl who sang her own rendition of “Stop in the Name Of Love”, I believe her name is Hailey? but other than that no one has really been that great.
In UK Xfactor I usually enjoy the live performances more than the auditions. so i’m hoping the chosen acts have some tricks up their sleeves. also the ratings are not favoring this long awaited show too well.

Song Written for Visual Media: Beautiful GhostsOctober 3, 2011 at 2:18 pm #225991I just watched the first three audition episodes yesterday, and I liked them. I certainly enjoyed them more than any Idol auditions I’ve seen in the past, and I’m an Idol fan. The judging panel, IMO, is stronger than any combination they had on Idol. The differecne between this and Idol’s current panel is astounding.
ReplyCopy URLOctober 25, 2011 at 11:16 pm #225992I guess I don’t have to wonder why I just dug through several pages to find The X Factor topic. I’m sort of in awe that one of these people is getting $5 million. I’m unfortunately in it for the season because I love the UK X Factor and it’s hilarious watching these overblown production numbers.
What shocks me is how obnoxious most of the acts are. Simon’s little fat girl is probably the worst, but I also hate the little rapper. L.A. Reid put him and the drug addict through over the amiable crooner? All of the people sent home besides him were absolutely intolerable. I can’t believe that the Brewer Boys or Dexter Haygood even got to perform on the live shows.
The song choices were also hilarious. It’s one thing to hear this quantity of ’80s hits playing softly in a department store, but are people really clammoring for a cover of “Flashdance”?

Country pop is what’s big right now, with Lady Antebellum, The Band Perry and Taylor Swift being crossover success, I see these talented and beautiful girls actually emerging. Paula, surprisingly has the best group out of the four mentors. all of her acts gave solid to great performances. Simon’s group is the worst, aside from Drew, i can’t stand that fat Janelle MOnae wannabe Rachel Crow and that dull and lifeless Melanie Amaro.
L.A. and Nicole have shit categories as well.ReplyCopy URLCongratulations Taylor Swift on 6 Grammy Nominations

Song Written for Visual Media: Beautiful GhostsOctober 26, 2011 at 5:17 pm #225996I actually thought there were a few standouts from last night (namely Drew, Melanie, Josh, and Lakota Rayne). I’m excited to see them continue in the competition.
Also, maybe it was me, but did Steve Jones come across as a little rude last night? I know the producers were probably yelling in his ear to keep things on time, but he cut off the judges multiple times. Maybe in the end it was good thing? LOL.
ReplyCopy URLOctober 26, 2011 at 6:29 pm #225997American Idol can be very proud that they have NEVER had a disaster quite like this episode. I can criticize Idol for hours, days even, but this was just too much of everything. Insanely over the top, the millions spent on this thing are just embarrassing and for those ratings?
Once again, Steve Jones is handsome, hot, well dressed, a gentleman, great voice but he is so not the guy for this job. I think he was rude on command because of time running out, but let’s talk about Simon, L.A and Nicole for a minute. HOW THE HELL does Paula Abdul come out as the most sane person in that bunch? The other three were so rude to each other it didn’t even come off as planned. Simon treats Nicole as if he regrets putting her on the show more than anything in his life.
And to top it off hardly any of them could actually defend their ridiculous remarks, all of them made horrible choices. These guys were extremely far off and only Paula managed to do some decent things with those groups even if Intensty is a disaster waiting to happen…for a group that will never actually happen.
The song selection alone was enough embarrasment for years. I adore Drew, seriously, but Flashdance? Baby for Rachel Crow? Very very and I mean veeeery few people had the right song. Poor Thia with that extremely weird production. And surprisingly, Melanie, who had the obvious but logical song choice was just horrible. And what the f-ck was going on with those mashups? Why did everybody decide to do them?
I hate Rachel Crow as a contestant so much. I think the girl is the sweetest thing ever, but as a contestant it was horrible.
I never would’ve thought that Lakoda Rain (still, worst name ever) would make sense, but they came out the best. Those girls better go far here or win. Same for Drew (who looked 43), Josh, Stacey and sorry, but I like Astro very much. Contrary to Rachel, I hate Astro the person, but I love Astro the act.
