For the one other fan of this show on this site, season 2 premieres January 26!January 1, 2018 at 1:32 pm #1202452997
Critics are making me happy. This did surprisingly well on top 10 list and I keep seeing it be brought up on end of the year podcast and articles.January 4, 2018 at 5:46 pm #1202456118
The season 2 trailer is excellent. I didn’t like the trailer for season 1, so I can’t wait.January 4, 2018 at 5:56 pm #1202456126
This show was such a great surprise last year, I’m still not sure how they made a multi cam sitcom work so well, but it did. Can’t wait for the new season, and hope more people watch. Rita Moreno and Justina Machado need to be recognized for their great work here.January 4, 2018 at 9:56 pm #1202456327
Justina Machado is not a good actress but the show is okay. Moreno is the only good part tbh. The Good Place is the best show on tv.January 27, 2018 at 2:41 am #1202480155
The show is currently 88 at Metacritic.
I’m feeling a great second season.
Rita Moreno and especially Justina Machado (yes, especially her) need recognition everywhere.January 27, 2018 at 4:35 am #1202480189
Besides the very last scene (which I thought was a little too much), the first episode of this season is one of my favorites for the whole show. The show as a whole continues to be one of the most relatable and touching shows on tv. As a recent Cuban high school kid, the entire discussion on racism and stereotypes hit incredibly close to home.
I hope Rita Moreno eventually re-enters the conversation for awards. She plays the role perfectly. Justina Machado is also fantastic.January 27, 2018 at 7:35 am #1202480249
About to start binge watching the new season!January 27, 2018 at 9:18 am #1202480295
A fantastic premiere with fantastic performances, albeit the show has no idea what subtlety is. The last scene was a bit much but the premier as a whole was really fantastic.
Justina Machado stole this premiere. This season seems to have a lot more buzz so let’s get her the nomination she deserves! She has a one of a kind energy she brings to her performance.January 27, 2018 at 11:56 am #1202480396
Locked Down was a fantastic episode that should be in the conversation for writing and directing. I’d also assume it’d be there editing submission.January 27, 2018 at 12:31 pm #1202480405
I just watched episode 7 “Exclusive” and it’s a killer showcase for Moreno (although she’s been great in every episode). The ending was also great, and I’m loving the work by the younger actors who have really grown into their characters and improved their delivery.January 27, 2018 at 12:40 pm #1202480408
I didn’t care for Marcel Ruiz last season but he and his character are really coming into their own this season. I also really like Sheridan Pierce. She’s on my personal guest Actress shortlist.January 27, 2018 at 5:57 pm #1202480577
Well I finished the season and will provide thoughts once I have time to digest it. All in all, this season has solidified One Day At A Time as one of my favorite shows. And dang there were several times throughout the season that I thought Justina Machado would make a deserving winner on the drama side. She had some Viola Davis levels of tears/snot. Que programa más bonito :’)January 27, 2018 at 10:14 pm #1202480671
Justina Muchado gives a career best performance so far this season. Not only is she better than all of the competition in comedy actress (including Brosnahan), but she is better than most of the drama actress lineup as well. I’m glad this season seems to have more critical and online support. Hoping Muchado can surprise with a TCA nomination. I just watched “Hello, Penelope” and wow!January 28, 2018 at 12:47 am #1202480709
WHAT A SPECTACULAR SEASON OF TV!!! This season blows season 1 out of the water. It’s so cheesey but it has so much heart. The ensemble is really great together and the characters are just special.
Rita Moreno didn’t have as much to do as last season but she still was fantastic. Her submission would probably be the finale because even though she only had one scene, she was fantastic in it. And every other scene was about her.
Gomez and Ruiz really came into there own this year. I didn’t love them in season 1 but they really proved themselves.
And Justina Machado. One of the most underrated TV actors ever. It was already a crime she was never nominated for Six Feet Under and now we’ll have to live with snubs for this. She brings such a raw, powerful energy to the role. She is genuinely fantastic. Her depression episode is a knock out. On the tape system she would genuinely be rivaling Brosnahan and JLD, that’s how good her performance is. I really hope she can get nominated.
All in all, this is a fantastic and really a one of a kind show. It’s so well made and written. At the very least I hope it gets an editing nomination, it’s only nomination from last season, which it most definitely deserves. Hopefully Netflix will give this the campaign it deserves. Machado and the show are genuinely fantastic.
Also, for anybody who wants to see the performances but not the whole show, I’d recommend “Hello, Penelope” , and “Not Yet”.
