Taryn Manning is criminally underrated on these forums.

Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Brooks and Yael Stone gave the best performances of this season. I hope (but i doubt) they get the recognition they deserve (Especially Danielle).

Netflix goes out of its way to promote some dumb shit but they have dropped the ball with Danielle. She is not only deserving, but Taystee is one of the most relevant TV characters of the decade.

    My ranking of the seasons:
    2>4>5>7>1>3>6

I really liked season 5 I think it was the best season for the ensemble, although the last moments of its finale sealed the fate of the show. To me, the series finale was very good but I wasn’t happy with all of it and most was because they got rid of half of the ensemble and we only saw them again for 2 minutes. The show was bound to end incomplete.

How would you rank the seasons?

Taryn Manning, Yael Stone , Kate Mulgrew, Selenis Leyva , Jackie Cruz, Adrienne C Moore, Natasha Lyonne , Laura Gomez, Alysie Reiner, Diane Guerrero and of Course Danielle Brooks all knocked it out of the park IMO … this season was the most emotional and the most brutal for me. I loved every second we were not with Piper or Vause ( the weakest parts of the show for me) Yael, Danielle, Taryn and Diane all made me tear up

It’s interesting how many strong performances from this show have been snubbed while they went all out for Aduba and even gave Schilling a nom (arguably one of the weakest performances on the show.) Stone, Brooks, Manning and a few others should have easily been Emmy nominated multiple times over.

FYC: Mary Kay Place in Diane

IMO Danielle Brooks should have at least two emmys

I haven’t finished the season yet but if Emmy OITNB should be 7/7 for Best Casting at the Emmys and SAG Ensemble. The density of talented performers on this show is unbelievable.

Finished the final season binge! Liked it for the most part and felt things were fitting enough in the end for most of the characters. Just for changing the face of television forever and in my mind being Netflix’s flagship series (even though “House of Cards” came first), I tip my invisible hat to ‘ya. The series finale was way overstuffed though. It would have been nice to have a bottle episode of the Ohio prisoners to check in on their struggles. The constant focus on Piper’s post-prison life was expected, yet exhaustive. Danielle Brooks was absolutely fantastic, and so many of the supporting ensemble did more than enough to merit Emmy attention again. Equally incisive was the ICE detention angle, particularly with Blanca’s arc. It goes to show how a show must evolve with the times. Kerman was incarcerated during the Clinton administration when ICE didn’t exist (was implemented in the Bush era), yet the menace we have now is a Trump-era phenomenon. Some of the story arcs stretched all levels of genuine plausibility, but I guess I can overlook that given the general goodwill I have for these insanely dynamic and riveting women. One major misstep was Kaputo’s #MeToo storyline. I thought that totally missed the mark in execution and tone, resorting to cheap victim-blaming and a redemption arc for the perpetrator. Let’s not forget what a sleazeball his character initially was before being rebranded as “good” in later years. Regardless, I consider this one of my all-time favorite series, so I’m saddened that it’s the end. Here’s to Jenji Kohan and co.! Thanks for the seven seasons.
