Looks like the creators have an end point in site. 2 more seasons after this one it’s looking like
P.S. I enjoyed the premiereApril 22, 2015 at 11:08 am #346492
I’m also in the wait-and-see camp.
I was not nearly as enamored with S1 as others, so I am not even that loyal to the show. Still, I’ll monitor the thread to see if it is having a good season.May 3, 2015 at 9:15 pm #346493
BBC America has mailed the first two episodes to Emmy voters in this package:
See, if it were me, I would have included something about how Tatiana Maslany is giving the most acclaimed performance on television, but hey, I am sure that they have their reasons for a simple black envelope with pretty much only the title on it.May 4, 2015 at 1:03 am #346494
At least they didn’t wait till the end of May to send them out per usual for them. But yes, that’s very uninspired packaging. And those first two episodes don’t do as much for Maslany as the first two of season 2 could have done.May 4, 2015 at 3:17 am #346495This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.May 4, 2015 at 12:06 pm #346496
What gets me is that they were savvy enough for Orphan Black to be one of only two television programs (the other being The Honorable Woman) to be available for free screening to members on the SAG website during voting and I am sure that that is how Maslany got her nomination there. So did enough Television Academy members see it then that they will again vote for her now? This is the kind of performance that when people like it, they are all in with their support, so I do not see the same voters who voted for her at SAG not voting for her at the Emmys. I just do not know how good the overlap is; maybe her voters were more from the film branch, which is why they would have been so susceptible to screening content on the SAG website.May 7, 2015 at 7:58 am #346497This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.May 9, 2015 at 2:05 pm #346498
the show is not good this season, and Maslany’s performance is getting weaker.May 9, 2015 at 2:22 pm #346499This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.May 17, 2015 at 12:05 pm #346500
I started watching this show in March. I loved the first season and really enjoyed season 2 as well. I’m not quite as warm about season 3 so far. I’m finding the male clone story to be a distraction. I don’t feel much attachment to them, and they aren’t as distinctive as the female clones as characters, so even though we’re about halfway through season 3, I’m not finding myself really into them. But that said, I still absolutely love Tatiana Maslany’s performane on this show. I think she is stellar, and I find it amazing how she has constructed these characters to be so unique. I really do forget that they are played by the same person. It’s been said before, but is a shame she hasn’t snagged a Best Actress nomination yet.May 28, 2015 at 7:24 am #346501
That’s great news to hear Orphan Black has already been renewed for season 4. I have no idea if they will make it to the full five seasons the creators have envisioned, but either way hopefully the series can get the proper closure it deserves.
I am not sure if anyone else here is still keeping up with Orphan Black, but they just had one of their best episodes ever this past Saturday. “Certain Agony of the Battlefield” was one of the all-around best episodes they have done. Not only did it feature a sad departure, it gave us some resolution, answered questions, and featured a surprise clone return. It does get frustrating at times when they introduce so much on the show, but it was nice for a change to get some answers and find out what was going on.
Hopefully the rest of the season will continue building towards a satisfying resolution. This past episode was excellent and has set the wheels in motion for the rest of this season.May 28, 2015 at 8:37 am #346502
I agree, a very good episode on Saturday! Up to this episode I had been somewhat annoyed because the plot was so confusing, and not I feel that the departure that did happen on saturday basically was an excuse to not explain how that character was involved in Leda and Castor and whatever else because honestly it made no sense what that person was doing.

I finally caught up on the past 2 episodes and it was just further confirmation that this is one of the worst shows on TV right now. The insane talent of Tatiana Maslany is being wasted this year and not even she can save the shit that her writers/showrunners are spewing. Nothing is working, everything is corny, these male clones are pointless, and there’s too little Alison. If it weren’t for Maslany I’d have stopped watching 2nd half of last season but I’m not even sure she can make me stay until the end of this season.
Please OB writers, stop trying to be “cool” and just go back to the original S1 roots. Please.June 10, 2015 at 7:36 am #346504
The past 2 episodes, particularly the one that aired May 30th, were a massive step-up from the shit the writers have been shoveling out this season.
Tomorrow I have an Emmy hangout with Tatiana Maslany scheduled – got any questions?June 15, 2015 at 2:56 am #346505
After the premiere this season became just as annoyingly disjointed and loud and mythology heavy as the second half of season two. However, post episode four the boring boy clones were put into the background and the show became fun again. This season is quite a bit less preachy and slightly less obsessed with delivering a twist every ten minutes. They’ve also given Helena and Cosima more interesting material than they had in season two. However, while she’s still sometimes fun it’s apparent the writers are adrift when it comes to Alison. Furthermore, they still haven’t obtained the knowledge that the clones and their relationship is the main reason people watch the show, and they should rarely veer from that. This show will never regain the simple genre glee and sense of surprise of season one. The writers just won’t accept that their talent cannot meet their ambitions. However, the second half of the season has been entertaining enough to lead me to believe at least this was gonna be an overall superior season than the second.
