If she had chosen 6×11 and not the finale, yes. But she went with the series finale, in which she’s in like 5 minutes. She would not have won with that episode.
Oops my mistake.
My guess is one of Bledel or Jones would have won then (on the basis that they were the only performers who weren’t cameos in their tapes). I would feel more confident in saying Jones if she went with “Argestes” instead of “Tern Haven”.

“I have been rolled. I have been sandbagged!” is kind of iconic.July 16, 2021 at 2:15 am #1204348809
Yeah, I think Bledel would’ve won under the tape system. Cherry Jones is really good in ‘Tern Haven’ but its a very quite performance that relies a lot on reactions and one liners. ‘Argestes’ would’ve been a far superior submission.July 16, 2021 at 2:41 am #1204348829
It’s just the way you can narrow down guest actress both this year and last year to two of the nominees in the category because the other nominated performances were cameos 💀💀💀.
Although I feel quite confident that Sophie Okonedo would be winning this year if it were under the tape. With all due respect to Mckenna Grace (who does actually give Emmy favourite performance in this category this year) nothing compares in bait to Sophie Okonedo playing someone with a multiple personalities disorder.

Yeah, I don’t think voters could have resisted the emotional impact of Bledel’s episode last year. Those scenes between Emily and her son are gut-wrenching.July 16, 2021 at 3:04 am #1204348845
Zach Galifianakis for Baskets season 2. He didn’t submit it for some reason but the episode “Fight” absolutely could’ve beaten Donald Glover’s more subtle performance in the Atlanta pilot.
Although I suspect Glover would’ve won the next year with Teddy Perkins since Bill Hader’s Barry submission was way more dramatic (brilliant though).July 16, 2021 at 11:49 am #1204349317

Thoughts: Dan Levy would have been in the upset position in 2020 due to how David focused the finale of Schitt’s Creek is but gosh it’s so ironic how tape friendly Burgess and Braugher’s performances were yet they couldn’t win under the plurality system.

I agree Braugher under the tape system would be an absolute frontrunner. When he is on, he is A+++++.July 21, 2021 at 2:32 pm #1204356712

This is interesting because I think Hahn would win if it was in a comedy field and Nicholson would win if it was in a drama field. I’m really impressed by Hahn’s choice because I thought she was going with “Previously On” with that cringeworthy flashback scene, so I’m glad she went with her best acting episode.
FYC Emmys: Hacks, The Handmaid's Tale and The Queen's Gambit for the win!July 21, 2021 at 2:50 pm #1204356750
Sterling K Brown for the episode R&B of This is UsJuly 21, 2021 at 3:03 pm #1204356778
Julianne Nicholson has the winning tape but I actually do think Hahn would triumph under the old system. At the end of the day she’s at the forefront of her tape, is essentially starring in Modern Family for 3/4s of it and has a musical number. Nicholson does have a few moments that I think would play with the old system (if you’ve seen it you know) but those really come in during the last ten minutes of the episode (which isn’t a slight against the strength of her performance in the slightest).
I do agree with Onion that if this was a drama field she’d probably be winning quite easily.July 21, 2021 at 3:11 pm #1204356795
It’s batshit crazy to think Nicholson would lose under the tape system.
