Feel free to redirect me if there’s already a thread for this but thought it might be nice to have a thread for people to post their personal choices for this TV season as we’ve had in previous years. I know some people like their own thread but for those who just want to post their picks and then comment on others, here we go…

FYC Gold Derby TV Awards: Michelle Dockery - Movie/Limited Series Actress. Claire Foy - Performer of the Year.

First for me, my creative arts/craft nominations. I’ve generally followed the Emmys for categories and entries but have also added some contenders who weren’t submitted where I think they should have been. Also, unlike at the Emmys Black Mirror is only allowed one movie that contends and for me this is going to be “Hang the DJ”.

I think The Handmaid’s Tale deserves recognition for its production design in “Unwomen”. People can say what they want about the show itself but the colonies looked freaking spectacular!

I agree but I preferred “June” and didn’t feel like nominating it twice

Music Composition is a category that is very important to me, so here would be my 5 nominees:

    Series:

    • The Handmaid’s Tale (Episode: June) – Adam Taylor
    • Game of Thrones (Episode: The Dragon and the Wolf) – Ramin Djawadi
    • The Crown (Episode: Paterfamilias) – Rupert Gregson-Williams
    • How to Get Away With Murder (Episode: Live.Live.Live) – Photek
    • Once Upon a Time (Episode Leaving Storybrooke) – Mark Isham

    Limited Series:

    • The Assassination of Gianni Versace (Episode: A Random Killing) – Mac Quayle
    • The Alienist (Episode: The Boy on the Bridge) – Rupert Gregson-Williams
    • I haven’t really seen any other limited series, where the music stands out

    Cinematography for one-hour shows:

    • The Handmaid’s Tale (Episode: June)
    • The Handmaid’s Tale (Episode: Unwomen)
    • The Handmaid’s Tale (Episode: Baggage)
    • Game of Thrones (Episode: Dragonstone)
    • Riverdale (Episode: Chapter 34: Judgment Night)
    • The Crown (Episode: Paterfamilias) – though any episode would be a good choice
    • Stranger Things (Episode: Chapter 1: MADMAX)
    • Westworld (Episode: The Passenger)
    • Westworld (Episode: Kiksuya)
    • Westworld (Episode: Akane No Mai)

    I can’t limit this to 5, lol

How to Get Away With Murder (Episode: Live.Live.Live) – Photek

I find this pick really interesting because I have such a love/hate relationship with the score on HTGAWM, sometimes finding it incredibly effective, sometimes thinking it distracting. What was it about “Live.Live.Live” that you loved?

I totally get you there!! I think their best episode to date (score-wise) is “Who Died” (3.09) because the music is what created the tension and build-up. I think the score when Laurel’s in the elevator in “Live.Live.Live” is phenomenal. They have used that before though. I think the score itself is always amazing but the use way too many songs and the songs are way too loud sometimes. Sometimes the music supervision is perfect, like “Doomed” at the end of “Live.Live.Live”
