If anyone can hypothetically take down Darren Criss for The Assassination of Gianni Versace for TV Movie/Limited Lead Actor, which of the other nominees would it most likely be? I deliberately chose not to include a “Criss is a lock” option because I really want people to only consider the alternatives here.August 12, 2018 at 5:20 pm #1202607936
It’s not letting me vote but I said John Legend. I think Criss is one of the biggest locks of the night thoughAugust 12, 2018 at 5:34 pm #1202607946
^ Yes. If anyone had the passion to do it I think its John Legend but to me the Darren Criss doubt is just people overthinking.August 12, 2018 at 6:17 pm #1202607975
No way , Emmy will let Darren Criss win. I say BenedictAugust 12, 2018 at 7:07 pm #1202608008
I (would have if the poll let me) voted for Jesse Plemons. It’s winning TV movie, people like him, and he’s been on a bunch of Emmy favorites.August 12, 2018 at 7:14 pm #1202608011

I have to second this. It seems to be the year of surprising new blood contenders challenging the movie stars everyone expected to land name check nominations. And I saw more critical acclaim for Jesse Plemons than John Legend.August 12, 2018 at 7:45 pm #1202608028
6 consecutive nominations in this category alone, the second most ever. And 1 win.
“Patrick Melrose” was critically acclaimed, Cumberbatch’s performance was universally lauded, and the miniseries could very well win lauded British novelist and screenwriter David Nicholls the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a MiniSeries/Television Film. Each episode of “Patrick Melrose” is based on a different novel in Edward St Aubyn’s award winning series

If Cumberbatch wins someone please come find me and shoot me in the headAugust 13, 2018 at 12:01 am #1202608171
I would think Jeff Daniels’ double nominations this year and former Lead Actor Emmy win would indicate strong voter support for his chances. But I think that’s going to aid him more with “Godless” than “The Looming Tower.” On the other hand, voters love Benedict Cumberbatch. I don’t think anyone’s beating Criss though.August 13, 2018 at 7:09 am #1202608300
Legend, though Daniels seems plausible too.
THE OSCAR 100 (#20-16): Jodie Foster, Martin Landau, Jessica Lange, Patty Duke and Anne Bancroft
