Melissa McCarthy famously won her Emmy for Mike & Molly thanks in no small part to her breakout role in Bridesmaids.

Last year, Amy Schumer’s work in Trainwreck helped her break through to the Emmys winning podium too.

So, this year, which possible Emmy nominee looks likely to get a push for a nod, or even a win, thanks to their work on the big screen?

Sophie Turner and Emilia Clarke, maybe.

It’s possible that The Conjuring 2 could help get Vera Farmiga some more buzz compared to the past two years. This, combined with renewed buzz for the show COULD push her to a surprise nom.

Emmy voters may find it difficult to ignore the box office performance of Finding Dory featuring Modern Family supporting actors Ed O’Neill and Ty Burrell.

Even though Oscar winner, Marisa Tomei is only in what, 1 (?) scene in Captain America: Civil War, I can see her getting into Drama Guest Actress for Empire. There’s also a great amount of buzz for the Spiderman movie, and she was nominated at the Critics Choice Awards – not that that helps.

Not a box office hit, but Beasts of No Nation is carrying Idris Elba this year.

Melissa McCarthy has a new movie out.

Also, the last time Vera Farmiga was nominated was the same year the first Conjuring movie came out. This could be a very positive sign for her since The Conjuring 2 was the most talked about film last week.

i see a lot of overestimating.
i mean, bridesmaids and trainwreck were $100 mil+ comedies with acting and picture globe noms.

are y’all seeing that for the conjuring? civil war? finding dory?

The Conjuring 2 made 200 million dollars the last two weeks worldwide. And the critics are calling it the best horror movie in a long time.

Civil War grossed over $1.1B worldwide ( ±$400M in the US) and it is critically acclaimed and hailed as the best Marvel movie yet.

The Conjuring might help Patrick Wilson too.
Keri Russell has “Free State of Jones” but I guess since the movie seems really bad it won’t help her. Then again it has McConaughey so maybe?

Depending on the box office Melissa McCarthy could use this to her advantage to win once more.

Oh, so you’re saying they will get Golden Globe noms for acting and picture then, which is what I asked?
