This trailer looks really cool and just like forwardswill said reminds me of the better seasons of AHS.August 4, 2020 at 11:04 am #1203626359
Sarah looks incredible, her performance looks amazing just from the trailer BUT they could have made a tv show about a killer nurse and it would have been amazing, why does it have to be a prequel to OFOCN? Like she wasnt even a murderer in that movie, and I think it’s what made it as iconic, Im still watching regardless cause Paulson looks amazingAugust 4, 2020 at 12:19 pm #1203626525
Lovely to see Jon Jon Briones. Sarah is already serving Emmy nominee. I’ll tune in.August 4, 2020 at 3:11 pm #1203626839
Depending on quality and whichever of American Horror Story or Impeachment manages to film on time/make eligibility Paulson might be getting two Emmys next year.
FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).August 4, 2020 at 3:48 pm #1203626874
Oh yes, I am so here for this! This comes out right before the Emmys, so I will have something great to jump into after them. Sarah looks terrific per usual. And Finn Wittrock, people — delicious.
Oscar FYC -- Give Viola Davis her second Oscar!August 4, 2020 at 3:55 pm #1203626883
Oh, so he just made another season of AHS.
I don’t think I see any shred of a connection to the original character or film – thematically, tonally, or otherwise.
Disappointing.August 4, 2020 at 4:06 pm #1203626894
While I will be checking this one out, I don’t see it making big splashes at the Emmys unless next year has an extremely weak lineup due to shows not airing on time to be eligible. From the trailer alone, I do not get the vibes of the original film- something I was quite looking forward to ever since the show was announced. Paulson would have a better chance getting nominated for Impeachment over this or AHS.August 4, 2020 at 4:36 pm #1203626937
I guess I’m in the minority when I say I loved the trailer! I’m very excited to watch this. I hope this delivers (at least) something on the level of Feud and Pose.
FYC Emmys: Helena Bonham Carter (Drama Supporting Actress), Olivia Colman (Drama Actress), Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh (Drama Actress), Fiona Shaw (Drama Supporting Actress), Zendaya (Drama Actress), Alexis Bledel (Drama Guest Actress)August 4, 2020 at 4:42 pm #1203626941
This is so cool! This is one of my favorite movies ever and for it to not only get the TV adaptation, but it’s a Ryan Murphy production, I’m in! And what a great story for the creator of the show. Out of film school and your spec script comes to this?! Goals! And I like Sarah Paulson, but she’s going to have to do the Lordt’s work to even be able to come close to touching what Louise Fletcher did.August 4, 2020 at 5:04 pm #1203626955
And she wasn’t a campy bitch in the novel either. So what’s your point?August 4, 2020 at 6:05 pm #1203627006
this looks FUN! we need fun and camp sometimes, and style.
I’m still pissed about Sarah Paulson not even being nominated for Mrs. America when she should be WINNING. a mess.August 5, 2020 at 1:25 am #1203627357
I like that the tone is very different from OFOTCN as it should be. Let’s see how far Paulson and company will bring the camp on.
Also this is not a review per se and is just one of HFPA member’s insight but it looks like the Golden Globes’ gonna eat it big based on this column.August 5, 2020 at 7:34 am #1203627620
I am so excited. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is in my top 5 favourite films of all time and Louise Fletcher delivered a iconic and legendary performance as Nurse Ratched. I am beyond thrilled to be seeing her origin story unfold before my very eyes!
