What is everything thinking this will do in the ratings? As an avid ratings and TV follower, I’m really clueless here, although my instinct, considering the non-stop promotion for the last few weeks, the buzz that’s been happening for nearly a year, all culminating down to one night … it’ll like premiere big. Then again, American Idol’s big promotional push only got it a 2.4

Less than W&G revival premiere. I’m guessing 2.5-2.6 rating.

I actually think ratings will be huge for the premiere – I know both progressives and conservatives who are pumped for the return.

I think the viewership will be higher than the Will & Grace premiere due to its more wide-ranging appeal but the 18-49 will probably be lower simply due to it having been so long since it premiered meaning that many of it’s original viewers will be out of this key demo by now. I also doubt that it’s the kind of show that is going to pull in interest from millennials who haven’t seen the original run.

I assume that a lot of the millennial generation has grown up on it through constant reruns though. I mean, even today it’s airing on four cable networks for 6-8 hours a day. That’s why it’s so hard to predict who will tune in and what the audience will be. I know my 85 year old grandma will be watching the show; I know my 16 year old brother will be watching the show. It seems like the premiere will be massive, but it’s hard to say.

It’s definitely highly possible that it could be huge but I can only really judge based on what I’ve heard in my small bubble and I don’t know anyone under 30 who is excited and have only seen a handful on twitter.

Also, 30 second ad slots were going for less than MF, so ABC’s predictions are probably in line with 1.6-1.8.

American Idol’s big push only got 2.3 because it had only been off the year for a couple years, plus we already had The Voice. There really hasn’t been a show like Roseanne since the show went off the air in 1997. I predict it will be huge!

I grew up watching Roseanne when I was in middle school when TBS and others would play it, but I don’t know if anybody really watched it past the late 90s. How successful has it been in syndication? I find that I see Will and Grace a lot more than Roseanne being played there.

I would say Roseanne has been a lot more successful in cable/syndication reruns than W&G. It’s currently airing still on TV Land, Logo, CMT, and Laff multiple times a day. W&G is on Logo only, as far as I know, and not regularly airing.
