Here we go again…
ReplyApril 28, 2017 at 11:31 am #1202079133I hope they just make it so that last season never happened, but utilize plot elements like Darlene having her baby into the show.
I feel that Roseanne is one of those writers/actors who really need to live the lifestyle in order to actually write it and play it. As she got more rich and famous, the show lost something. That was even before that awful lottery season.
I hope they use the original Becky. She was more fitting for the role than Sarah Chalke.

So, presuming she won’t return, I’m skeptical.

ReplyCopy URLApril 28, 2017 at 11:58 am #1202079145This is awesome, as long as they sort of forget that last season and return the show to its roots. This was the show I mentioned should get a revival on that thread, so obviously you have me to thank for this. Roseanne must have read it and said, “well if this guy wants it, I better get to work” I wonder which Becky they’ll bring back. I also hope Estelle Parsons can come back even though she was a bit annoying sometimes, I was hoping they would do a revival before she passed since she’s almost 90. They definitely gotta bring back Martin Mull, Fred Willard and Sandra Bernhard as well.

Glad to know she’s been working so recently. The last time I saw her was on the good wife 3 or 4 years ago.

Amy’s presence was only really major in seasons 4-6, and it wasn’t like she dominated the show like she did Gilmore girls. She was a singular voice there.
None of these revivals have hit just the right spot. But I remain hopeful that one of them will get it right.
ReplyCopy URLApril 29, 2017 at 9:32 am #1202079889Retconning not only a series finale but pretty much the entire final season sets a bad precedent all around for shows (and viewers) that legitimately want a proper close to a work. And in “Roseanne” case, you wrote and filmed that shit, now own and live with it. I think it’s only “forgiven” for them (“Will & Grace” too) based on the high viewer affection/nostalgia for the shows themselves and those very talented ensembles. I’ll watch both revivals b/c I adored both shows in their respective runs, but I’m skeptical that they won’t match up to the originals and possibly tarnish their overall reputations in the process.
ReplyCopy URLApril 29, 2017 at 1:05 pm #1202079972Why do you guys think they would have to retcon the entire final season? Only the last episode should be and I don’t think that would be a big deal.
