The hardest prediction is on the drama actress category:

Jodie Comer – won the emmy, showy performance and they already rewarded another actress of the same show.

Olivia Colman – won the oscar a few months ago, netflix and they rewarded Claire Foy twice (one of them was predictable, the other one was kinda a surprise, which means they love The Crown and that character)

Jennifer Aniston – SAGs are know for they problem with new shows, but that def didn’t harmed TMS, movie star returning to tv and another showy performance (the show btw has a lot of that type of acting, and most of them are mediocre, however Jen is one of the exceptions)

I really think any of them has equal chances.

And why not Elisabeth Moss? Unlike Comer, she has never missed.

They humiliated Moss and the show when they broke their S1 win trajectory. Comer exploded with S2. She’s coming off a BAFTA and Emmy win. It’s soo not the same.

I feel like Drama Ensemble is the most wide open. You could really make a case for any of them — even Stranger Things, which I don’t think has any special momentum this year, is the only past winner in the category, so there’s clearly a solid support base for it.

I think Big little lies is gonna win cast. Its their chance to award the cast since they dont have a limited series category (which is insane they dont have). Its probaly their only chance to honor the whole cast.

Colman and HBC are going to split votes. This is between Aniston and Comer.

Why should they split votes? Colman has much stronger notices than HBC, and she’s the lead, while some people have gone so far as to say thatcher Bonham Carter was underutilized the whole season.

Disagree that she has stronger notices. She has *more* notices because she’s the lead and a new oscar winner but reviewers who mentioned Bonham Carter were far more complimentary when they did so. I’d say Bonham Carter being underutilized is just about as equal in repeat concerns as people saying that they don’t think Colman was right for the part (in fact, in terms of general public, I have seen much more of the latter). Seems ripe to be enough of a votesplit for Colman to just be edged by Aniston or Comer.

(PS: Slightly concerning that your autocorrect switches “that” to “thatcher”!)

There have been twenty-seven instances (not including this year) in which a single comedy or drama was double-nominated in an actor or actress race. This has resulted in a win for that series zero times. I am not about to predict The Crown (drama actress), The Kominsky Method (comedy actor), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (comedy actress) or The Morning Show (drama actor) to be the first.

But didn’t Brosnahan win last year with Borstein also nominated?

Oscar FYC - Lupita Nyong'o & Elisabeth Moss ("Us") - Best Actress & Supporting Actress. It must happen; otherwise the Tethered are coming.
