I didn’t misspell it this time! Yay! I love this show, critics don’t! I wish it could be an Emmy contender, but it won’t. Maybe the Globes? But star power didn’t help any of the welt airing shows last year that didn’t have great support (The Path, Billions). The best actor for me was the neighbor kid, skylar Gisondo. He was great! Please watch this show. I think it had bad reviews because it was so bizzare , but I love bizzare so that makes sense. I think a good description of this show is Modern Family+ Nosedive from Black Mirror+ the good place+ Zombies. It’s great! Please watch it!!!February 3, 2017 at 8:59 pm #1202002612
I’m barely on episode 1 but i think this show has so much potential. i have never seen anything like it. I understand why the critics are on and off about it though.February 4, 2017 at 9:26 am #1202002780
I really wish more people were talking about this. I hope it ends up being like a Bug Bang theory, where the critics hated it first, the Emmys barley gave it anything, but then the critics loved it, and so did the Emmys.
If this does get a nomination, what would be its best bet, I would say Olyphant. He is so great. I would love it if Gisondo got a nomination but that won’t happen.February 4, 2017 at 10:06 am #1202002817
This show is so much better than I expected. It’s nothing amazing, but I’ve had a solid couple of laughs per episode, and the cast is great. The trailer was not that great, so I think a lot of people were turned off by that.February 4, 2017 at 2:41 pm #1202002940
Meh, I see why the critics don’t like it. Barrymore is horribly miscast and I feel like Olyphant tries way too hard, but none of it really meshes and the tone is all over the place. It seems like it’s trying to be satirical, a la Weeds or Desperate Housewives, but that requires a tad more nuance that Santa Clarita Diet is capable of. This show is way too broad with the lame music and gallons of fake blood.
There are moments, especially in the finale, when I see flashes of the creator’s earlier show, Better off Ted, but sadly he’s also the guy who created Sean Saves the World.
Netflix has about a billion shows this year, and I don’t expect this one to show up anywhere at the Emmys.February 4, 2017 at 3:17 pm #1202002960
I love the music in this show. Also, I like Barrymore, but she seems to be copying Kether Donogue You’re the Worst. I thought Olyphant was fantastic. But Skylar Gisondo is fantastic. He is so funny. I have seen him in a few things and he is great. the guest performers are also great, especially Nathan Fillion, Richard T. Jones, and Portia De Rossi. Rossi and Jones were so great.February 4, 2017 at 3:17 pm #1202002961

I finally finished and it was greatFebruary 4, 2017 at 6:12 pm #1202003059
I have seen two so far and am enjoying it I think? It is really bizarre I am not sure what to make of it thus far. I definitely understand the mixed critical reaction. Agree that it doesn’t appear to be a big Emmy player but I could definitely see Drew popping up at next years Globes.
If anyone likes this type of humor I would definitely recommend Better Off Ted (from the same creator) which I find to be a more successful show overall.February 4, 2017 at 7:36 pm #1202003136
finished , I loved it, Gisondo is fantastic and so are the leads despite of Olyphant being totally misscast, he still kills it.February 4, 2017 at 7:40 pm #1202003138
I agree, Gisondo is AMAZING. He deserves an Emmy.February 4, 2017 at 8:58 pm #1202003199
I just watched all 10 episodes non stop. Loved it. Funny, entertaining. LOVE IT. I hope it takes offFebruary 6, 2017 at 10:01 am #1202004195
I watched the first episode of this and it was so bizarre. I love the cast though so I will continue. It was SO weird though haha.February 7, 2017 at 3:02 pm #1202005096
First episode was just OK. I don’t really understand what was going on, and I’m very much into anything Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olephant, Ricardo Chavira and Waitress (from Sunny in Philadelphia), so that alone will make me keep watching.
However, the performances in this first episode were just awful, except for the daughter. The whole tone was off, so maybe that was it, I think Olyphant either will get better or is miscast here. Barrymore was her usual “mmmm is she bad in this? Or is this just Drew’s style of acting?”, maybe it was just a bad directing and editing job. And the whole vibe was too Weeds, too much of a copy.
Nathan Fillion needs to cut that hair and lose weight. He looked awful. He looked like actor that’s given up.February 7, 2017 at 3:04 pm #1202005100

Didn’t know Victor Fresco was involved in this. Didn’t pay attention to the credits I guess. Yes, Better Off Ted is a fantastic sitcom. Gone too soon. So this is another reason to keep watching.
