Where and why do you think she should be placed to maximise her chance at a nomination, and maybe maybe even a win?

I think she’s a lead and will continue to be campaigned there, but due to the ensemble nature of the show, putting her in supporting would be acceptable to me.

I’m currently predicting her to get the lead nomination. I think a win there is more possible than people think, but I’m guessing Colman wins there.
If she’s campaigned in supporting, I think she’ll win. Same goes for Jeremy Strong.

Strategically and in terms of her material, I think she should be in Supporting. Even though she had a more prominent role in this season versus the first and even though Shiv is the most prominent female character, it still feels like a supporting role.

I’d actually campaign only Cox in Lead, with Strong, Culkin, and Snook all in Supporting. Yes, those categories would be overcrowded with Succession contenders, but I don’t see any of the other main cast having a particularly strong shot this Emmy cycle, especially with its track record with the acting branch. I wouldn’t mind a bid for Holly Hunter, though.

I actually think she would have a decent shot in either category honestly. It might be slightly easier in Supporting, but I have a feeling she will breakthrough with a surprise nomination in Lead Actress this year, so I say keep her there.

I also don’t think Jeremy Strong should be put in Supporting. Yes, he would have a great shot at winning there, but I think he’s in a good position to score a Lead Actor nomination and HBO will want to maximize the amount of nominations they could score, so campaigning him there wouldn’t do them any good.

I think in general Succession is going to expand greatly on its Emmy nomination count this year and I think it will do better in the acting categories than most people are counting on it to.

How do you think the Lead Actor race will play out with both Cox and Strong in the category? I agree with you that they both could and are probably likely to score nominations, but our own forum users seem split on who they’d vote for. Separating them into separate categories would probably not minimize their number of nominations (Cox guaranteed in Lead, Strong very likely in Supporting) and might maximize their wins if they both pull off a victory.

I think she’s more supporting than lead. She definitely was more prominent in the second season, but Cox and Strong are still more front and center. Just because she’s the female with the largest role doesn’t mean she has to be campaigned in lead. Either way though, she’s more than deserving of a nomination in either category. If she went supporting, she should be winning. It would be a joke if someone like HBC won over her.

She should go supporting and win.

I don’t think she is happening in either category, but as said before me, she has a better chance of winning in Supporting than in Lead, but getting that nomination will be as hard in either categories. Really, Supporting is not less crowded than Lead.

Supporting. That’s where Snook has the best chance for a nomination and most competitive for an actual Emmy win. Expect a complete snub in lead.

She should be winning lead. Agree with the placement, and she’s miles ahead of the rest of the category in terms of quality.

Sure she’d probably have a better chance in supporting, who wouldn’t, but IMO she was a lead the second season. Her, Strong, and Cox where the three leads to me. While the two men had plenty to do and probably had just as much screentime as her (maybe slightly more here and there), her arc was the one that paralleled the arc of the season just like Kendalls was last season. The decision she had to make in the season finale was what the season was building towards to me, whether she’d be able to sell her soul for the job. And then Kendall’s final moments were the result of stuff happening in the background and a launch into next season.

For season 1 I was surprised by her lead placement, but yes she was a lead in season 2. Jeremy Strong had the same, if not less, presence than her.
Sadly she will be snubbed in every category.

I do not really understand the category placements here. Brian Cox is lead and nobody is contesting that. Now, Culkin receives nominations in supporting and everybody’s fine with that. Where does that leave Snook and Strong? Like, father = lead, children = supporting? I’d feeld better if Snook and Strong go lead and then we only have one case of fraud (Culkin).

I am wondering if there is room for Holly Hunter? Is she supporting or guest? I suppose the former. She rocked.
