I hope Chloe Fineman breaks out her Timothee Chalamet impression!

If she doesn’t then it’s biggest wasted opportunity on Lorne’s part. Vanessa Bayer’s Jennifer Aniston with Jennifer Aniston was outstanding and Fineman’s is funny enough on her own (see her IGTV’s — the “Normal People” FaceTime is hilarious) to get some excellent material with Timmy in person.

ReplyCopy URLDecember 5, 2020 at 9:04 pm #1203897441As much as it doesn’t scream “current,” I’m not gonna act like I didn’t enjoy the concept of a skit about Eminem’s “Stan” lol

ReplyCopy URLDecember 6, 2020 at 12:15 pm #1203898493That Morgan Wallen at the bar skit was kinda the turning point for me (for the worse, that is). It didn’t feel that funny (rare for a segment with Bowen Yang as a main character, at least for me), and I couldn’t really tell what they were trying to convey through it…
ReplyCopy URLDecember 6, 2020 at 12:16 pm #1203898497Jason Bateman is so naturally funny that it’s easy for him to play into any sketch scenario and make it work out well. Amusing monologue story with the killer monkey, and I’d say that the Santa bubble sketch was the best of the episode. Maybe he wasn’t given enough to do, but that’s been an issue for more than one host so far this season. Cecily Strong finally returned, so yay for that! The drunk Giuliani witness was the kind of character Strong would have played on Weekend Update, and the voice reminded me of the girl at a party that you wish you hadn’t started a conversation with lady that she used to do, which was also her best recurring character. The “Stu” song was surprisingly well done and just like the “Stan” video. It even had an unexpected cameo at the end lol. The Xmas moms Zoom call was another great one. I get why they devoted an entire sketch to the Morgan Wallen controversy once he’s actually there (any publicity is good publicity), but I thought it was pretty irresponsible to make light of that when people are still gathering in large crowds maskless, some of which surely coincide with his fanbase and ooze shitty Trump voters. He shouldn’t have been given another chance anyways with two underwhelming performances that brought absolutely nothing to the table. Otherwise, a decent returning episode.

December 12, 2020 at 9:15 pm #1203915814They did NOT make Pete Davidson look exactly like Machine Gun Kelly at the VMAs for a 5-second spot XD
Also, as someone who watched Auntie Dionne’s season of the Celebrity Apprentice religiously, I have to say that I liked Ego’s impression, but she needed to talk a little more through her teeth (and say “I got your number, hussy” to at least one annoying guest).

Or Wendy as her Masked Singer Lips having a sing off with Dionne.

And the Dionne Warwick Talk Show has potential to become the recurring classic.December 13, 2020 at 9:33 am #1203916701Timothee Chalamet was a great host! He’s so awkward and weird, but that seems to still work for him until it doesn’t. Game for just about anything too, which we always like to see. Pairing him with Pete Davidson as much as they did was a smart move as they play off each other well. Ego’s Dionne Warwick was lit! Finally a memorable impersonation and the possibility of a recurring favorite! I had to look up if the Wendy Williams “feud” was real, and sure enough, it is lol. The rapper sketch was insane, and “Tiny Horse” will go viral if it hasn’t already. Nice cold open, but I was disappointed that they couldn’t get Brad Pitt again for Dr. Fauci. Bruceeee! Usually they let the veterans perform 3X on the Xmas shows, so I was halfway expecting that. Can’t wait for Kristen Wiig & Dua Lipa next week!
