May? Ugh. Such a shame. Thought it was gonna be like February. Either way super excited for the Xmas Special. This first season was beautiful.

I wonder if Netflix can submit the 2 hour Christmas special as a TV Movie at the Emmys?December 16, 2016 at 8:11 am #1201970784

Beautiful trailer.December 23, 2016 at 3:40 pm #1201974263
So no one’s here for this?
What a fantastic christmas special! This episode really made me realize how much I actually love and missed it.
A few things:
* The writing is still solid!
*The Supporting characters are outshining some of the main characters! (Alfonso Herrera & the actor who plays Jela REALLY put in the work!)
*Brian J. Smith is the MVP of the special. Excellent performance!
*Kala was always so complacent, I love that Lana gave Tina Desai that scene with Lito and Ragan. Miss Tina can ACT, I had my doubts, but I am deliverT.
*Jamie Clayton (Nomi) is not a good actress at all. Her delivery throughout the special fell flat. I’m disappointed.
*LEGEND SUN IS BACK. I love Doona Bae so fucking much.
*THAT ORGY THO! Really appreciate that they’ve switched it up. It feels new and real and great that everyone got involved (Capheus’ ASS! Woooo)
Most of the sensates didn’t stand out for me during the special, it truly felt like an ensemble work, the supporting characters got to shine a bit, but I felt wanting more.
The montages were GOLD. I’m still hype for the rest of the season! May 2017 come on!December 23, 2016 at 4:25 pm #1201974276
I kinda hope they category fraud their way this special to a TV Movie Emmy nomination. Sense8 is a great show with incredible writing, directing and most of the time acting, it should be an Emmy nominee in above the line categories.December 23, 2016 at 10:39 pm #1201974430
Okay so this special was great for the most part, HOWEVER, it is deinaley not perfect. I’ll start with what impressed me most.
The 100% star of this special was Tina Dessie, who portrays Kala. WOW! What a bright, beautiful, shining performance. I thought her and her storyline were decent in season one but I found myself waiting to get to Kala’s storyline during this special. I hope she can find opportunities in Western entertainment after this because she was 10000% the MVP! I was also impressed by Purab Kohli as Rajan. He was very great. I hope he gets an expanded role. My second favorite was Amanita, played my Freema Agyeman. She did such a great job and had such charisma. The third standout is Lana Wachowski. The directing was superb. I hope she can get a directing nomination in the TV movie section. I also loved the scene where Capheus said he got a haircut when Jela asked why he looked different. It was a very meta and hilarious comment on the character’s recasting. Miguel Ángel Silvestre Was great as was Alfonso Herrera and Erendira Ibarra. I need more Daniela. The actress is so great but so underutilized that it is criminal. Brian J smith was good. I was also impressed by Tuppence Middleton, who plays Riley. I am frustrated because I need more of her. At first I thought that she was just decent, but at the choir scene she had a look in her eyes that absolutely won me over! Great acting from her. I was also impressed by Toby Onwumere but all of his scenes were stolen by Paul Ogola, who plays Jela. Expand Jela’s role NOW! Terrence Mann also did a good job as Whispers. Finally, the fight scenes were great and so inventive. I need not fight scenes! I also like the writing on a level of story and concept, but not diologue.
There were also many aspect that I was mixed about. I am not sure if I love or hate the editing. It is so different from everything else that I think it just takes some getting used to. The storyline with the Germans does not stand out to me and Max Riemelt doesn’t do bad, but he is t near as good as his co-stars. Also, If Angelica is the mother, are the sense8’s siblings and are the Wachowski’s promoting incest? Because that is gross! SOMEBODY PLEASE CLARIFY THIS FOR ME!!!! Also, Doona Ba did nothing special for me. She was just okay. Not bad, but got great.
Finally I have my section for what disappointed me. Jamie Clayon sadly fails her role. Lana Wachowski created such a vivid and beautiful character and Clayton undoes everything the writers did for Nomi. I was also not a fan of a lot of the diologue. It is very cheese. I also thought the Shitpacker Porn scene with Hernando was stupid and cheesey and a waste of the actor and time. I also did not like Anthony Cistaro, who plays agent Bendix. He was so two dimensional and boring. The actor did the character NO favors. Finally, the actor that played Bug did a terrible job. I could not find the actor’s name. BUG IS THE JAR JAR BINKS OF SENSE8!!!
In the end I need more Kala, Daniela, Capheus, Jela, Amanita, Lito and fighting. Once I get more of those I will be happy. Untimatley, the Christmas special for Sense8 was, for the most part, very solid despite its flaws. I hope the Emmy’s recognizes this special, or at least Tina Desai, in the Movie categories.December 24, 2016 at 12:10 pm #1201974522
Yeah I agree with most of what you said. Tina Desai was excellent!! Hopefully she continues getting juicy material. She deserves a Golden Globe nomination at least – where they love awarding international stars.December 24, 2016 at 2:13 pm #1201974555
It took the first hour for it to refind itself but it was on great form after that. Brian J. Smith was the clear standout for me but the whole ensemble remains superb. The only big issue I had is that the sequences, namely orgy #2, felt shoehorned rather than innovative like in the first season. The exception to this was the Hallelujah montage which was stunning. The most dramatic moments remained the show’s strength for me, with the ending in the particular riveting. Don’t get the hate for Jamie Clayton, she’s definitely the most nuanced performer on the show, bar perhaps Tuppence Middleton (who was wasted in this even if it served to highlight Smith’s brilliance), even if I was disappointed with her material here.
The show was my favourite new one of 2015 so cannot wait for its full return in May.
Overall: B+ (first half B, second half A-)

Finally got around to this:
Sense8 is wildly uneven for me but I still find myself enjoying the ride. The extended montages are the definition of indulgent but I didn’t mind at all – I love their raw energy and unabashed over-the-top quality.
Some of the dialogue is so bad I nearly spit out my drink.
Not really feeling the re-cast actor – that storyline was always the weakest by far to me and he is doing nothing to convince me otherwise.
Overall, got me excited for the season to come. Netflix has this listed as the first episode of season two so I am not sure if it will be submitted as a standalone movie (Netflix seems to be stingy in its campaigning given the sheer volume of shows it has) but I hope it will. Some of the direction and other craft-work definitely deserves recognition. I can’t really support any acting mentions and definitely not any writing, my god.
Can’t wait to binge the rest this summer!December 29, 2016 at 5:18 pm #1201977153
Pretty disappointed with this special. Some dialogues is so bad!! I think I liked just three or four moments (and they delivers us a thousand of random moments). But, waiting for season two.
