Thought it was gonna be like February. Either way super excited for the Xmas Special. This first season was beautiful.

What a fantastic christmas special! This episode really made me realize how much I actually love and missed it.
A few things:
* The writing is still solid!
*The Supporting characters are outshining some of the main characters! (Alfonso Herrera & the actor who plays Jela REALLY put in the work!)
*Brian J. Smith is the MVP of the special. Excellent performance!
*Kala was always so complacent, I love that Lana gave Tina Desai that scene with Lito and Ragan. Miss Tina can ACT, I had my doubts, but I am deliverT.
*Jamie Clayton (Nomi) is not a good actress at all. Her delivery throughout the special fell flat. I’m disappointed.
*LEGEND SUN IS BACK. I love Doona Bae so fucking much.
*THAT ORGY THO! Really appreciate that they’ve switched it up. It feels new and real and great that everyone got involved (Capheus’ ASS! Woooo)Most of the sensates didn’t stand out for me during the special, it truly felt like an ensemble work, the supporting characters got to shine a bit, but I felt wanting more.
The montages were GOLD. I’m still hype for the rest of the season! May 2017 come on!
ReplyCopy URLDecember 23, 2016 at 4:25 pm #1201974276I kinda hope they category fraud their way this special to a TV Movie Emmy nomination. Sense8 is a great show with incredible writing, directing and most of the time acting, it should be an Emmy nominee in above the line categories.

Tina Desai was excellent!! Hopefully she continues getting juicy material. She deserves a Golden Globe nomination at least – where they love awarding international stars.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 24, 2016 at 2:13 pm #1201974555It took the first hour for it to refind itself but it was on great form after that. Brian J. Smith was the clear standout for me but the whole ensemble remains superb. The only big issue I had is that the sequences, namely orgy #2, felt shoehorned rather than innovative like in the first season. The exception to this was the Hallelujah montage which was stunning. The most dramatic moments remained the show’s strength for me, with the ending in the particular riveting. Don’t get the hate for Jamie Clayton, she’s definitely the most nuanced performer on the show, bar perhaps Tuppence Middleton (who was wasted in this even if it served to highlight Smith’s brilliance), even if I was disappointed with her material here.
The show was my favourite new one of 2015 so cannot wait for its full return in May.
Overall: B+ (first half B, second half A-)
ReplyCopy URLDecember 29, 2016 at 3:42 pm #1201977125Finally got around to this:
Sense8 is wildly uneven for me but I still find myself enjoying the ride. The extended montages are the definition of indulgent but I didn’t mind at all – I love their raw energy and unabashed over-the-top quality.
Some of the dialogue is so bad I nearly spit out my drink.
Not really feeling the re-cast actor – that storyline was always the weakest by far to me and he is doing nothing to convince me otherwise.
Overall, got me excited for the season to come. Netflix has this listed as the first episode of season two so I am not sure if it will be submitted as a standalone movie (Netflix seems to be stingy in its campaigning given the sheer volume of shows it has) but I hope it will. Some of the direction and other craft-work definitely deserves recognition. I can’t really support any acting mentions and definitely not any writing, my god.
Can’t wait to binge the rest this summer!
ReplyCopy URLDecember 29, 2016 at 5:18 pm #1201977153Pretty disappointed with this special. Some dialogues is so bad!! I think I liked just three or four moments (and they delivers us a thousand of random moments). But, waiting for season two.
