I’m just going to post this here and leave it at that. I got half as far as this woman did and never regretted not bothering to continue it. Make of this analysis whatever you will, whether you love or hate Sharp Objects.

I can’t believe you thought that was worth posting here..

It’s so obvious that he’s hating on the show.

The problem with this show is that it is in my opinion too slow to be binged. I watched the first two episodes fine because I did so in line with it airing on TV. I then missed the airing of the third episode and it took me ages to find the impulse to watch it. Then after I had done so I had no true desire to immediately watch another one as I was no longer in the conversation anyway. I will persevere in hope that the last couple of episodes are as good as everyone says but I can definitely see why some people have given up.

I’m one of those people who think the pacing is a big part of what makes this show special. I can’t imagine it being conceived in another way. It’s a take it or leave it type of show though I thought there was going to be more acceptance from the audience.

    Finished. Thoughts:

-I did come to appreciate the slow burn nature of the show to an extent
-But I still maintain this does not excuse boring me for most of the series
-Patricia Clarkson is series MVP by a mile
-The finale was an actually great episode of television
-Amy Adams deserves a nomination but not a win
-The writing was a strength. All characters were well formed.
-Eliza Scanlen was good. She is not Emmy worthy.
    -The direction was regularly pretentious
-If any young actor deserves recognition for this it’s Taylor John Smith
-I would have cut so many unnecessary scenes

I’m for it but at the same time I’m not.

I don’t think it will happen. Even if it does somehow, Adams surely won’t be part of it.

I am an absolute fan of this show, but I don’t want or need a season 2. Honestly, what is it going to be about? The story ended IMO.

I think Big Little Lies still has so many stories to tell because I feel like the events in the season finale were just the beginning, but Sharp Objects ended on a very high note, a note that seemed very final to me.

They need to stop doing this with every single Limited Series.

Hmmm. Only b/c there’s more to tell to Amma’s story and Eliza Scanlen being one of the best acting revelations I’ve seen on television in many years, I say bring on the sequel! Cautiously optimistic.
