I can’t believe I don’t know this – I’m wondering what TV series has the most Emmy nominations but has never won.  Do you know the top one, and if you’re really savvy, do you know the most-losing comedy and most-losing drama as well?

The Man from U.N.C.L.E has 16 nods with no wins, but surely that can’t be it, right?

    The Man from U.N.C.L.E. – 16 nods, 0 wins
Real Time with Bill Maher – 15 nods, 0 wins
    Star Trek – 13 nods, 0 wins
Parks and Recreation – 8 nods, 0 wins
Hart to Hart – 6 nods, 0 wins
    Married…with Children – 6 nods, 0 wins

I know that “Married… with Children” was the longest airing Emmyless show (10 years) until “Baywatch” ended in 2001 (after 13 years).

Newhart (the one in the cabin) has 25 nominations from Emmys and 6 GG nods…did not win a single trophy from either ceremony

Even though it won once for costumes, Dynasty had a total of 24 nods. 1/24 (especially when the win was for something like costumes) is a bit sad….

Real Time with Bill Maher also has 16 Emmy nominations with 0 wins

Married…with Children has 0 wins for 7 nods….and no major nominations for acting, writing, directing, or series

Up until a few nights ago when Kathy Bates unexpectedly won an Emmy for her comedic cameo on 2.5 Men, Kathy Bates had gone 0/9 —– 1/10 is still a bad record, especially when her only win came for an extremely brief, shameless cameo…

I wouldn’t have voted for Kathy Bates on “Two and a Half Men”, but her performance was extremely showy and she had a good deal of screentime. Her guest appearance wasn’t extremely brief and it definitely wasn’t a cameo. Margaret Cho in her submitted episode of “30 Rock”, that’s what you call a cameo.

Amy Poehler will be a 0/7 if she loses her two nominations this year. Hamm will be 0/9, sad 🙁

I don’t know that anyone is going to beat Newhart’s stat of 25 nods with 0 wins, so I think we can write that in the trivia record books.

Although American Idol currently has 8 cumulative wins under their belt, they had a pretty bad losing record for awhile: After 2006, they had been nominated for 22 nominations without a single win, and in 2007, they won a single Emmy from what had been 29 career nominations up until that point.

Did 30 Rock win anything at the Creative Arts Emmys? I know it was an Emmy favorite a while back, but it’s been experiencing a dry spell since its fourth season. Season four went 0/16, season five 0/14 and season six could go 0/13 and probably will. I’m expecting it to pick up a few trophies for its final season… we’ll see.

Hasn’t Bill Maher already beaten it?
