I’ve grown to love this show’s ability to every week make it seem like these characters will finally get to a different place, to then bring them back to where they were two seconds ago.May 24, 2017 at 7:08 am #1202101299
While the season is still funny, I’m kind of feeling let down in terms of the direction it’s going in. I was really looking forward to the new dynamic that would come from having Richard, Jared, Guilfoyle and Gavin set up their new company, especially with the potential interactions between Guilfoyle and Gavin. But now we’re right back to where it’s always been. I really hope that the second half of the season raises the stakes for everyone and that Gavin will return sooner rather than later.
Zach Woods has always been my favorite on this show but his performance as Jared this season has been stellar. I would love for him to get nominated at this year’s Emmys and submit last week’s episode, “Teambuilding Exercise,” to the Emmy voters.
Also, am I the only one who thought Gavin was going to kill himself when he was talking to Richard on the phone?May 25, 2017 at 10:05 am #1202102362
HBO Renews Silicon Valley and Veep for 2018: (I posted this in the Veep thread so I thought i’d post it here too) https://medium.com/hbo-cinemax-pr/hbo-renews-hit-series-silicon-valley-and-veep-for-2018-e09d240b379May 25, 2017 at 12:05 pm #1202102411May 25, 2017 at 12:15 pm #1202102416This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.May 25, 2017 at 1:14 pm #1202102435
Didn’t get an opportunity to talk about Sunday’s episode. I thought it was OK, and nice to see the main characters getting more to do as an ensemble, which it is leading towards, and hopefully it will see the end to the storyline with Dinesh’s girlfriend, which was been pretty dull. I hope this isn’t the last we’ll see of Matt Ross this season- he’s been great thus far. Zach Woods was also really great this episode, and Thomas Middleditch’s monologue in the blood boy’s apartment was very good. Some good points, but this is pretty standard forgettable mid-season affair.May 26, 2017 at 10:23 pm #1202103532

Exactly! I was looking forward to the guys teaming with Gavin and they blew it up already. The writers just can’t get away from doing total resets at every opportunity.

For a second, yes! The way they were shooting Gavin did suggest it.May 26, 2017 at 11:54 pm #1202103552
That’s a shame, him and Zach Woods are the best.

I thought this was the best episode of the season. This show stopped being laugh out loud funny a long, long time ago and this was certainly no exception but I loved the return of Dan Melcher, I like where they’re going with Bachman, I’m sure Osment will be back next week with stuff to do, and the Dinesh Guiylfoyle story was great. Seeing Richard in the Erlich role was a great too.

Good episode this week, I liked it a lot. Remember when Silicon Valley used to be this fun? It really is a return to form after a couple of sluggish episodes, really evoking the heights of the show in seasons 1 and 2. I thought that the Dinesh and Gilfoyle storyline was a lot of fun, they finally gave T.J. Miller something worthwhile to do, and the plotline with Richard was also pretty good. Zach Woods, yet again, was outstanding. They’re putting some bland plotlines from the season to bed, and really elvoving to being more interesting, entertaining, and funny. Good stuff.
