I adore Spacek but she’s been criminally underused on Bloodline.

Sissy Spacek having a thread devoted to her doesn’t seem like excess considering she’s rarely as discussed as other actresses from the 70’s and 80’s.

I only saw the first season (and the second season finale) and Spacek was very underused. She has not received a nomination from any group for this role.

I love “Bloodline,” don’t get me wrong, but my biggest criticism is that the writers are not using Sissy Spacek well! She was dynamite in her guest appearance on “Big Love” a few years ago. Certainly the “Damages” creators know how to write well for actresses of a certain age (thinking about Lily Tomlin, in particular, in Season 3).

Maybe I let my own hopes up thinking they would give Spacek material like her “In the Bedroom” performance, as well.

I agree that Spacek has been underused on Bloodline, but, frankly, for an actress in her mid-60s not named Meryl Streep, I’m just glad she’s getting a chance to work and not in Ryan Murphy camp. The character of Sally could definitely be more developed and Emmy voters are definitely aware of the show. I would have been fine with, and have been predicting, a name-check nomination, but now, with so many open spots her category, it may actually happen. But having the material to justify a nomination would be nice too. 🙂

She was used even less in Season 2 than in Season 1. At this rate she might qualify as Guest in Season 3, then she could potentially sneak in I guess.

They passed over Sam Shepard and Beau Bridges in guest, so I would not bet on it.

Murphy would benefit Sissy far more than Bloodline has.
